Job DescriptionThis role will provide electrical engineering support to a dynamic engineering development team, decomposing test requirements, designing, integrating, and selling-off test stands, working with prime mission equipment designers to support first unit test, design verification test, integration, transition to full rate production, and sustainment of complex digital, analog, RF, and optical circuit cards and modules.
The successful candidate must possess strong technical aptitude, communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally within the hardware organization and with other engineering disciplines/functions. Must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment in technical areas.
This position may include the following activities:
- Design of analog, power, digital, and RF circuits
- Design of complex interconnects and cables
- Design of environmental controls for Environmental Stress Screening
- Procurement, assembly, and verification of test stands
- Extensive experience working with production engineering to design reliable, efficient, and timely test stands
- Agile hardware development, risk-reduction prototyping, and requirements-driven design and verification
- Knowledge of engineering development processes for aero/defense industry, including designing and testing to MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461
- State-of-the-art electrical engineering design/analysis/sim tools
- Strong "hands-on" laboratory experience with instrumentation, equipment, and processes
- Working experience with Interface standards including military/avionics communication buses (i.e. RS-485, Mil-Std-1553B, Ethernet)
- Lead/Mentor a team of junior engineers
- Support test and troubleshooting of test stands working directly with program engineering personnel as required
- Interface with Engineering, Operations, Quality and other supporting functions to drive defect resolution to root cause
- Generate and implement improvements in test design and methodologies to reduce cost, increase yield, and improve throughput
- Generate and review the technical content of test procedures, drawings, engineering specifications, reports, Engineering Change Orders, and other documentation
- Interface with governmental customers and suppliers as required
- Provide training and support to technicians and manufacturing personnel as required
- Support Root Cause and Corrective Action activities
- Mentor peers and more junior engineers in areas of expertise
Required Skills and Education- Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent
- Electronic test station/test stand
- Power Supply/Systems Design, Analog Circuit Design, Digital Circuit Design Experience
- PSPICE or equivalent analog circuit simulation tool experience
- Cadence Allegro for schematic capture and PCB design
- Basic microwave Technology
- Proficient in circuit active and passive devices
- Procurement, tracking, assembly, and integration experience
- Ability to Obtain DOD Security Clearance
Preferred Skills and Education- Industrial temperature or better (automotive)
