Job Summary:

The Energy Marshal is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of energy isolation and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment. This role involves coordinating with various departments, conducting safety audits, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. The Energy Marshal plays a critical role in promoting a culture of safety within the organization and mitigating risks associated with energy sources.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Energy Isolation Management
  • Develop, implement, and manage energy isolation and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Ensure all energy isolation activities are conducted in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of energy isolation procedures and activities.

Safety Audits and Inspections
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards related to energy sources.
  • Monitor compliance with LOTO procedures and safety regulations.
  • Implement corrective actions and process improvements to address identified hazards.

Coordination and Communication
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of energy isolation activities into project timelines.
  • Communicate energy isolation plans and procedures to relevant personnel.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to employees on energy isolation and safety matters.

Training and Education
  • Develop and deliver training programs on energy isolation, LOTO procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Ensure that all personnel are adequately trained and understand the importance of energy isolation and LOTO procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness within the organization.

Incident Investigation
  • Investigate energy-related incidents and near-misses to determine root causes.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare and present incident reports to senior management.

Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all energy isolation and LOTO activities.
  • Prepare and present safety reports to senior management and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation requirements and industry standards.


Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in energy isolation and safety management.
  • Stay up to date with the latest safety regulations, industry standards, and technological advancements related to energy isolation.

Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in safety management, energy isolation, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing energy isolation and LOTO procedures.
  • Certifications preferred (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional, OSHA 30-hour Certification).

Physical Requirements:
  • Must have a satisfactory background/MVR check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug test.
  • This is an office desk position with frequent site visits. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Exposure to various environmental conditions, including construction sites and operational facilities.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, as needed.
