About the RoleTo provide endpoint device support to all County employees and partners to ensure their computers, peripherals, and mobile technologies are operational so that they can perform their job functions. The Endpoint Specialist also provides setup and maintenance of both hardware and software as well as frontline support. Documentation of trouble tickets and issue resolution is critical as is working within tight time restrictions to get end user endpoint equipment and applications rolled out. Provide endpoint software system support to users and co-ordinate problem resolution as required.
Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesIT Client Support/Helpdesk:
• Responsible for documenting trouble tickets including; addressing the issues and follow up on resolutions
• Provide scheduled weekend on call support, password resets for phone and domain, intranet user setup and some phone administration for the admin building
Desktop/Equipment Maintenance:
• Provide Antivirus updates on desktops/laptops, spy ware (cleaning out temp files etc.), security updates, upgrades, document pc's and equipment, refresh old equipment with new equipment (physical moving of devices), documentation and preparation of old equipment for disposal
• Responsible for equipment setup/repair/replace/maintain (including pc's and peripherals i.e. Printers, monitors, scanners, mobile devices, etc.)
• Responsible for Ministry Of Health equipment support i.e. water testing pc, internally with IT department, users, and their supervisors/managers
• Responsible for ISP's for support to Councillor County supplied devices
• Track & maintain a log of all issues (both system and procedural) ensuring a timely resolution, in cooperation with system vendors and end users as required
• Provide equipment repair/preventative maintenance tasks and records
• Implements, maintains, and supports prescribed end user security controls with strict adherence to current IT and SOC governance policies.
• Monitors performance of client infrastructures and provides recommendations for technology upgrades and replacements
• Prepares technical reports, instruction manuals, and common problem resolution documentation
Projects:
• Responsible for coordinating and refreshing all endpoint devices on a pre-programmed basis including: developing images, testing, deployment, training, and follow up with employee's to confirm equipment is performing correctly once this is done
• Follow up with Corporate Manager, IT and the user's supervisors/managers to inform them of project completion
• Co-ordinate with Network Services Team to confirm server-side setup to ensure the endpoints will perform on the network as needed by individual employees
• Work with Systems Analysts to ensure software works on the County endpoints and to assist with large project implementations
Telephony/Communication Administration:
• Provide phone support onsite as well offsite support (travel county-wide to address issues)
• Password resets, phone unit repairs or replacement (coordinate with Network Engineers to contact bell for these)
• Administration building phone system administration including setup for users, voicemail, and security changes etc.
• Responsible for Communications with external vendors on cellular and Telephone systems for repairs etc.
• Regular communication & liaison with user department staff regarding PC/LAN application performance, system enhancements, error fixes & updates
End User Service/Training:
• Responsible for Councillor agenda deployment including development of training guides, testing setup of the application on laptops, setup of home networks and training for councillors
• Undertake vendor training & provide/co-ordinate appropriate end user training
Other Job Tasks/Responsibilities:
• Ensure that all system/application documentation is relevant and up to date, both hardcopy and online
• Coordinate & communicate with IT staff as required any system changes and/or updates particularly involving system hardware and/or cabling
• Provide additional resource to any system users as required and/or directed
• Assist in system disaster/recovery & downtime planning with system end users
• Ensure systems and data accessibility, security, confidentiality and integrity, at all times, utilizing anti-virus and related technologies
• Maintain up to date knowledge of developing information technologies
• Maintain equipment inventory logs, including asset tag records
General:
• Incumbents must keep up-to-date on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed
• Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis

Functional Authority: Provides direction, consultative services, and advice on endpoint software, technical issues and services to the Corporation, the IT Department and County end users
What We Are Looking ForMinimum Formal Education
• College Diploma in Computer Programming-Systems Analysis/Design or related discipline, and/or related IT professional designations e.g. Cisco, MCSE, CNA, CNE, A+, etc.
Experience
• Minimum of 3 years related professional work experience, preferably with additional general work experience
• Solid understanding of Windows Active Directory and Group Policy
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals, routing, VLAN, DHCP, OSI Model, etc.
• Knowledge of client virtualization technologies (VMWare, ESXI, Hyper-V)
• Related experience in MFA technologies support, Microsoft Configuration Manager, Windows desktop administration, Windows Active Directory, and or basic network infrastructure preferred
• Experience working in Microsoft Azure an asset
• Experience deploying and supporting Office 365 an asset
• Related experience in using Mobile Device Management (MDM) technologies (Meraki, Intune)
A valid Ontario driver's license and use of a vehicle.
