Description and Requirements

General Description: Provide marketing assistance and education to small employee benefits (Select) sales associates. Provide new client implementation assistance and education. Manage assigned New Business Coordinator team members.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level consultation with new sales associates on marketing and placement of benefit products for prospects.
  • Provide full-cycle recruitment, management, and development for assigned team members.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with carriers, vendors, and general agent partners.
  • Guide and train sales associates to obtain competitive coverage quotes based on client needs, utilizing regional quoting tools.
  • Assist and educate sales associates to analyze and compare carrier quotes and coverage offerings.
  • Provide peer review of prospect proposals as needed. Includes current and renewal details, and marketplace options.
  • Assist and educate sales associates with carrier installation for products sold to new clients.
  • Work with Select Team Leader, Select Sales Associates, and New Business Coordinator to transition new clients from sales to the assigned Internal Consultant, utilizing the hand-off process.
  • Provide guidance to Select Sales Associates to achieve proactive, personalized assistance to new clients. Act in a consultative manner with sales associates between clients and insurance carriers.
  • Coach and develop sales associates to respond to requests for information, documents, and employee benefits insurance inquiries.
  • Lead and share expertise on the renewal process for accounts including the preparation of appropriate contractual changes. Assure the Select Sales Associates communicate final placement details and instructions to insurers and clients.
  • Support and train sales associates to coordinate and manage client communications via email, phone, and virtual online meetings.
  • Support and train sales associates to develop employee communications for new client renewal changes, enrollment procedures, benefit changes, and/or clarifications.
  • Assist and educate sales associates to introduce clients to USI Benefit Resource Center for resolution support. Includes assistance with claims issues and benefit plan/policy questions.
  • Assist and educate sales associates to introduce clients to USI value-add services where appropriate.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy in agency management and document management systems.
  • Enable and equip sales associates to ensure client deliverable standards are met and peer reviews are completed for team members.
  • Partner with New Business Coordinator to verify accuracy of commissions on new business cases.
  • Keep current on industry information, technology, and trends.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • 5+ years of experience in the employee benefits industry or related marketplace.
  • Must hold a life and disability insurance license.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Comfortable with internet-based programs and Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal instruction.
  • Ability and willingness to work on-site/in-office 1-3 days per week.
  • Ability to travel quarterly to other office locations within the region.
  • Ability to conduct complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to define problems and generate potential solutions.

Salary Range: $85,000- $100,000. This is a bonus eligible position with a target incentive of 5%.
