Schedule: Full-Time
Our facility is located 10 minutes from beautiful downtown Charleston, SC in the heart of the Lowcountry. In 2025, we underwent an expansion and renovation and our 32,700 sq ft facility is complete with a full in-house lab, 16 slice helical CT, high field MRI, EMG, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, echocardiography, emergency radiology suite, isolation and feline wards, in house blood bank, and full-service rehabilitation department, with a dedicated emergency treatment area adjacent to our large and comprehensive ICU, including mechanical ventilation capabilities. Additionally, we have a full endoscopy suite (flexible and rigid), Stryker 1188 system for minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, arthroscopy), and Ligasure system. We are still the ONLY Level 1 Certified Facility in South Carolina!
CVRC has specialists in the disciplines of Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Cardiology, Medical and Radiation, Anesthesiology, Oncology, Rehabilitation, Veterinary Pharmacy, and Critical Care, as well as a highly-trained team of 13 emergency clinicians. We have a strong belief in a team-based approach to medicine, and our specialists and emergency doctors work very closely together. The emergency department is supported by specialists 24 hours a day. Our technical staff is highly skilled (including several VTS personnel in ECC and IM) and our patient care and client service are unparalleled. In your day-to-day, you will: - Deliver high-quality emergency and critical care to a diverse caseload of companion animals.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients presenting with urgent and emergent medical conditions.
- Provide comprehensive emergency care through a balanced mix of receiving new emergency cases, triaging incoming patients, and managing hospitalized patients throughout their course of treatment.
- Perform emergency procedures and stabilize critically ill or injured patients using evidence-based medicine.
- Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations.
- Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.
What You Bring - DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
- Completion of a rotating internship is strongly preferred; candidates with equivalent emergency experience in a specialty referral hospital will also be considered.
- Confidence managing emergency cases and making sound clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
