Hiring Range: $76,024.00 $123,468.80 annually

About this Position:

The Emergency Department PT role is crucial for assessing care appropriateness, consulting with healthcare professionals, and delivering direct patient care. Lee Health's emergency departments embrace physical therapy services to enhance cost-efficiency, elevate patient satisfaction, and reduce readmissions through robust education and follow up. As the original cornerstone of Lee Health, Lee Memorial Hospital is a nationally recognized, non-profit acute care facility offering advanced services including a Primary Stroke Center designation and a DNV accredited Orthopedic Center of Excellence, with a proud history of delivering award-winning, patient-centered care to the Fort Myers community for over a century.

As a Physical Therapist, you will be responsible for examining, evaluating and testing individuals with mechanical, physiological and developmental impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities or other health and movement-related conditions in order to determine a diagnosis, prognosis and plan of treatment intervention, and assess the ongoing effects of intervention. The PT is also responsible for alleviating impairments, functional limitations and disabilities by designing, implementing and modifying treatment interventions. Additional responsibilities include reducing the risk of injury, impairment, functional limitation and disability, as well as, the promotion and maintenance of fitness, health and wellness in populations of all ages. The PT is engaged in administration, consultation, education and research. The PT is expected to conduct themselves in an effective professional behavior manner. Our Rehabilitation Services team is one of the largest and most dynamic in the region. With over 700 skilled professionals dedicated to helping patients regain strength, mobility, and independence through comprehensive, compassionate care. Our licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists work closely with medical teams to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs. Beyond core therapy services, we offer a variety of specialty programs including neurological rehabilitation, vestibular and balance therapy, lymphedema management, pelvic health therapy, and oncology rehabilitation. With services spanning acute care, skilled nursing, home health, and outpatient settings, our team delivers exceptional, evidence-based care that restores function and enhances quality of life.

  • What makes this role different? You'll bring physical therapy directly into the Emergency Department, providing early assessment and intervention to help determine the safest and most appropriate plan of care. You'll work closely with the ED and interdisciplinary team while treating a diverse range of acute and chronic conditions.
  • How many patients will I see each day? Patient caseloads vary based on ED volume, patient complexity, and individual treatment needs. Our focus is on providing timely, high-quality care while allowing clinicians to complete thorough assessments and provide individualized recommendations.
  • What patient populations will I work with? You'll work with patients of all ages presenting to the Emergency Department with a variety of acute and chronic conditions affecting mobility and function, including musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular/pulmonary, and other functional impairments. You'll help patients improve mobility and safety while supporting appropriate discharge planning and follow-up care.
