Full Job Description
WHOOP is seeking a Firmware QA Engineering Manager to lead a team within the Hardware Accelerate team, which builds the technology foundation for quality of firmware development. This team's work is critical to delivering robust systems that streamline internal workflows and empower engineers to focus on breakthroughs in development.

In this role, you will have both technical and people management responsibilities. On the technical side, you'll work closely with product management and internal stakeholders to refine requirements and scope scalable solutions. You'll support the team in shaping technical designs, architecture, and operational best practices, helping maintain high standards for reliability, flexibility, security, and user sentiment. On the people side, you'll lead and mentor a cross-functional team of backend, iOS, and Android engineers by providing regular feedback and fostering professional growth. You'll be instrumental in promoting a positive, high-performance culture grounded in innovation, teamwork, psychological safety, and continuous learning.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers responsible for building platforms the integrate across embedded, mobile, backend, and third party services that enable research initiatives
  • Define technical strategy, architecture, and design for features that support research-focused initiatives
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to understand research needs and translate them into scalable systems
  • Manage third-party technology vendors and relationships
  • Maintain engineering best practices in development, testing, and deployment processes
  • Serve as a player-coach by contributing technically while driving team delivery and growth
  • Provide regular mentorship, feedback, and coaching to team members to support their professional development and growth
