Job Description:

This position is for an Embedded Product Analytics Senior Engineer on the SuperComm Command Center team. The team is responsible for the cloud infrastructure, applications, databases, and data pipelines that enable the collection, processing, storage, and delivery of engineering data from thousands of machines and engines operating around the world. The systems developed and maintained by this team are critical to engineering and analytics organizations throughout Caterpillar.

In this role, you will provide technical leadership while helping modernize and expand the SuperComm ecosystem through the development of cloud-native applications, data services, APIs, and engineering data solutions.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and maintain software applications supporting the SuperComm Command Center ecosystem.

  • Design, implement, and support cloud-native solutions using AWS services.

  • Design, develop, and maintain APIs, backend services, and data integration solutions that enable engineers and analysts to efficiently access and utilize engineering data.

  • Support and improve data pipelines responsible for collecting, processing, transforming, and delivering engineering time-series data.

  • Lead cloud modernization initiatives that improve scalability, reliability, and maintainability of existing systems.

  • Develop and maintain Python-based applications, automation tools, and support utilities.

  • Design, optimize, and maintain solutions utilizing Snowflake, Oracle, and MySQL databases.

  • Collaborate with data analysts, product engineers, and software developers to understand and support engineering data requirements.

  • Apply deep understanding of SuperComm time-series data and associated workflows to improve data accessibility and usability.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving data flow, cloud infrastructure, applications, databases, and system integrations.

  • Perform code reviews and help establish software development best practices across the team.

  • Provide technical mentoring and leadership for less experienced team members.

Degree Requirement
Bachelor's degree in accredited Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical curriculum plus at least 5 years of experience, or an advanced degree plus at least 4 years of experience.

  • Strong understanding of SuperComm engineering time-series data and associated workflows.

  • Experience designing solutions using AWS services including Lambda, SNS, SQS, API Gateway, and Aurora.

  • Experience building and maintaining cloud-based data pipelines.

  • Experience working with Snowflake, Oracle, and MySQL databases.

  • Experience with Git and modern software development practices.

  • Experience supporting highly available production systems.

  • Experience leading system modernization and cloud migration efforts.

  • Understanding of the needs of engineering data analysts and the development of systems that enable efficient analytics.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • The primary location for this position is Mossville, IL.

  • Domestic relocation is not available

  • This position may require limited travel.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
