Full Job Description
Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist II (EEG Technologist).

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and conducting of routine, ambulatory, and video EEGs for both adult and pediatric patients. Maintenance of electrode integrity in tests performed under both outpatient and inpatient settings. Archiving of all EEG studies in a timely manner.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assures adequate supply levels and performs cleaning of required equipment. a.
  • Monitors inventory of EEG supplies and alerts Laboratory Assistant and/or supervisor when amounts are low.
  • Cleans and prepares equipment daily prior to using on patients.
  • Detects equipment malfunctions, makes minor maintenance adjustments, and follows departmental guidelines for troubleshooting equipment and alerts the supervisor when unable to resolve issue at hand.
  • Prepares patient for testing and administers routine EEG. a. Introduces self to patient, and explains what will be done during the EEG test.
  • Answers inquiries and reassures patient during test in order to obtain the patient s cooperation for the best performance of the test.
  • Measures head appropriately, places electrodes properly, and checks their performance. Prepares patients using proper departmental criteria and techniques to ensure integrity of recordings.
  • Obtains standard recordings, recognizes artifacts, and takes appropriate steps to eliminate them.
  • Appropriately uses activating procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation, and sleep. Monitors other variables during EEG such as electromyograms, electrocardiograms, electro-oculograms, respiration, etc. when necessary. Upon completion of test, removes electrodes and gel, cleans patient s head, and wipes down equipment.
  • Carries out assignment from start to finish within time frame for respective task (e.g., routine EEG 1 hr., hook up of inpatient 45 minutes, etc.).
  • Hooks up surgical grid patients utilizing appropriate montages.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of continuous video monitoring including intra-operative monitoring such as corticography. a. Properly hooks up continuous video-monitoring patients utilizing appropriate montages. Knows and understands intra-operative monitoring including corticography, and hooks up surgical grid patients utilizing appropriate montages.
  • Documents all patient related data according to departmental procedure. a. Abstracts relevant information from the patient s clinical record and obtains additional information by questioning the patient/parent, if minor.
  • Accurately assigns individual EEG number to patient avoiding duplication of numbers.
  • Appropriately archives and burns data onto CD s, and double checks integrity before deleting data from hard-drive/server.
  • Follows departmental guidelines for documentation of patient data (e.g., name, date, EEG number, date of events, when applicable, etc.) into appropriate log books and onto CD s. Is familiar with filing of CD s, videos, and recordings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certificate of completion from a licensed EEG school
  • One year of videomonitoring (CCTV-EEG) and intraoperative grid hook-up experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of national board examinations (ABRET) in electroencephalography (R. EEG T.) and certification in long term monitoring (CLTM)
  • Achieve LTM certification and meeting recertification requirements
  • Good communication skills.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $97,489.31 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
