Location: Cedar Creek Corrections Center (CCCC) | Littlerock, WA
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individuals for the position of Electrician Supervisor at Cedar Creek Corrections Center in Littlerock, Washington.If you are excited to make a difference in the lives of others and join a team that works towards a meaningful purpose, apply to be an Electrician Supervisor at CCCC with the Department of Corrections (DOC). CCCC is a 480-bed male facility. The facility is located in the Capital Forest 20 miles south of Tumwater. CCCC is co-located with the Department of Natural Resources and is a minimum-security facility. This facility houses minimum security incarcerated individuals and offers treatment, work, and vocational programs to help ready incarcerated individuals to transition back into the community. CCCC is a sustainability prison; some of the many programs include rehabilitation of ailing Western Pond Turtles, raising bees, training service dogs, and composting. The site includes two living units, a health clinic, education buildings, a gymnasium and support facilities. All incarcerated individuals work at this facility either on an off-site work crew or within the facility grounds.

At Cedar Creek Corrections Center (CCCC), the Electrician Supervisor is responsible for all facility infrastructures on 107 acres of property as well as supervising Incarcerated Individual work crews to maintain CCCC living conditions in support of the Department of Corrections (DOC) mission to improve safety by positively changing lives.

As the Electrician Supervisor some of your duties will include:
Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment and electrical systems.
  • Supervises and trains unskilled, semi-skilled or skilled Incarcerated Individuals in various electrical components.
  • Performs preventative and routine electrical maintenance.
  • Inspects and repairs facility electrical, indoor lighting, outdoor lighting, UPS, and switch gears.
  • Maintains and updates electrical code requirements for complete compliance with all Labor & Industries electrical codes.
  • Repairs kitchen equipment, fans, stoves, dryers, vacuums, heaters, and maintains electrical motors in all HVAC units.
  • Maintains and tests the emergency generators.
  • Trains staff or Incarcerated workers on electrical systems as needed
  • Reads electrical meters

Prepare preliminary cost estimates and projections for assigned task or projects.
  • Order sufficient required materials to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Schedule work to be completed based upon its assigned priority.
  • Use current CCCC procedures to hire and train Incarcerated workers as needed.
  • Ensure that all safety and security procedures are followed. For example, all tool and key accountability policies and procedures are adhered to.

Qualifications
What we need (required qualifications):
  • Graduation from High School or GED equivalent
  • Washington State Journeyman Electrical License EL 01 is required.
  • Must successfully complete any required and/or applicable training/certification.
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, plans, and sketches; estimate materials and personnel needed to complete projects, supervise a crew of Incarcerated Individuals (I/I's) when needed
  • Knowledge of: standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment for the electrical trade; electrical codes; safety precautions; record keeping

What will make your application stand out (preferred qualifications):
  • Three years journey level experience installing, maintaining or repairing electrical systems and/or equipment.

Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complete a felony disclosure form prior to employment and submit to a criminal background check.
  • Successfully complete, within mandated timeframes, employee orientation and all other mandatory annual, in-service and other required training.
  • Provide physical residential address and home telephone number to the Department of Corrections.
  • Become familiar and comply with all Department policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable.
  • Submit to drug testing in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement and agency policy.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Washington state driver's license.
  • Possess and maintain a valid EL01 license, including keeping up on any continuing education
  • Washington State Journeyman Limited Energy Electrical License EL06 is required if supervising Incarcerated Individuals in the performance of limited energy electrical work.
  • Must successfully complete any required and/or applicable training/certification.

Telework Details

This position may be allocated for telework. If authorized for the role, work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a "drop in" area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
