What is the Opportunity?
Bremar Construction Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Aecon Group Inc., is a commercial and industrial contractor that will provide electrical services including installation, modification, repair and maintenance for power generation and distribution in nuclear and non-nuclear sectors for Ontario Power Generation, Bruce Power and Hydro One. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Aecon Group Inc., Bremar incorporates the best practices and history of excellences in the areas of safety, quality, construction and project management.

The Superintendent is responsible for providing overall supervision, coordination and scheduling of construction activities on site. The Superintendent will assist the Construction Manager in all aspects of developing, estimating, tendering, scheduling and executing of various projects. The Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that the project is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with the Quality, Contract, Company Policies, Practices and Procedures and legislative and labour requirements.

What You'll Do Here:
  • Establish and maintain good customer relations with site personnel.
  • Implement and enforce Company's corporate Environmental Health and Safety manual.
  • Adhere to Company and the customers Policies and Procedures as they apply to each project.
  • Ensure compliance with Company union obligations.
  • Ensure project safety, profitability, schedule adherence and customer satisfaction.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and assist in: preparation of estimate packages, schedules and associated documents, as requested by Project Manager.
  • Ensure project plans include workforce utilization, methods of construction, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, tooling, safety and quality requirements and work schedules.
  • Utilize project master schedule to create detailed hourly, daily or week schedules as required by the customer.
  • Develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy.
  • Responsible for productivity of trades, efficient use of materials and equipment and performance of all field related activities for each project.
  • Ensure field work is executed in compliance with project plans including: specifications, project schedule, budget, quality, safety and customer requirements.
  • Interface with client representatives, design/engineering, other contractors, etc. as required to ensure the project is successful.
  • Review and update schedule, cost forecast and cash flow with Project Manager.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation including safety records, daily progress reports, rental records, shift logs etc.
  • Attend daily/weekly site meetings. Organize and chair weekly subcontractor meetings as required.
  • Monitors and manages project scope and identifies any scope changes throughout project to the Project Manager.
  • Identify project risks, problems and issues as early as possible; ensure mitigating actions are in place to minimize impact and elevate to Project Manager as appropriate relative to severity.
  • Identify and implement initiatives to improve project performance, to achieve net improvements for key performance indices.
  • Maintain site presence through numerous daily field tours to check: safety, work progress, housekeeping, quality and identify/resolve any site or project related issues.
  • Carry out regular site safety inspections with safety personnel.
  • Communicate clearly, succinctly and professionally with project and customer personnel.
  • Review and approve purchasing requisitions, subcontracts, and invoice payments, within Limits of Authority.
  • Liaise Authorized Inspection Agencies (ESA and others as required).
  • Review and manage inputs from project metrics, including: Safety (MTI's, LTI's, etc), Quality (NCR's, # Rework, etc), schedule and budget performance.
  • Assist in securing new work by participating in proposals and presentations.
  • Lead/participate in dispute resolution activities with union associations and governing bodies.
  • Supervising General Forepersons and Assessors on site.


What You Bring to the Team:
  • Education to include a technical college diploma or equivalent combination of technical training and/or work experience.
  • Master Electrician license strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years construction and subcontractor supervision experience or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to successfully supervise construction projects.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage field staff.
  • Electrical specific and general construction knowledge.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction such as: technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering/drawings/work plans, cost control, scheduling and safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential.
  • Project management knowledge and experience.
  • Good knowledge of Quality Assurance and Engineering Change Control programs.
  • Analytical ability and effective decision making.
  • Knowledge of scheduling software - Primavera and Microsoft Project.
  • Basic knowledge of: Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Review/verify all inputs to invoices.
  • Review and approve hour staff timesheets and allowances.
  • Procurement of materials and equipment within Limits of Authority.
  • Due to the nature of work conducted by Aecon, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment.

Pay Range: $77.30/hr

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
