As our next
Electrician, you'll be at the forefront of installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing industrial electrical and electronic equipment and control systems. This role provides advanced technical expertise, supports equipment reliability and continuous improvement, mentors junior electricians where required, and ensures all work is performed safely and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures. You'll report to the Maintenance Supervisor.
What You'll Be Doing:- Perform advanced installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic control systems, including motors, transformers, power distribution, wiring, switches, sensors, alarms, and safety devices.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex electrical malfunctions involving PLCs, CNC controls, robotics, automation equipment, variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo drives, and control networks, and implement corrective actions.
- Install, program, calibrate, test, and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and related automation equipment in accordance with technical documentation and specifications.
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, O&M manuals, and technical drawings to perform installations, modifications, and repairs and to recommend improvements where appropriate.
- Develop, perform, and document preventative maintenance activities to support equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Test electrical systems and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant operation, including proper grounding and shielding.
- Support capital projects, new equipment installations, start-ups, commissioning activities, and equipment upgrades.
- Coordinate and oversee external contractors performing electrical work, inspecting completed work to ensure compliance with company standards, safety requirements, and applicable electrical codes.
- Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS/EAM) to record work performed, update work orders, track equipment history, and assist with parts sourcing and requisitions.
- Assist in the training, mentoring, and development of apprentices and lower-level electricians as required.
- Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, contractors, and other departments through communication and collaboration.
- Ensure all work complies with Occupational Health & Safety requirements, applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies and procedures.
- Adhere to Quality and Environmental Management Systems including IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 (where applicable).
- Perform other related duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:QUALIFICATION- Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician (442A and/or 309A) in good standing.
- Completion of a recognized Electrician Apprenticeship.
EXPERIENCE- 1 to 5 years of post-qualification industrial electrical maintenance experience.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical and control systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with PLC-based and automated equipment is required.
TECHNICAL & SKILL REQUIREMENTS- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, PLCs, automation, and motor control systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and control drawings.
- Working knowledge of CMMS/EAM systems and Microsoft Office applications is an asset.
- Solid understanding of electrical safety practices and applicable codes and regulations.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Effective communication and mentoring skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT (INCLUDING PHYSICAL DEMANDS)- Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, heights, confined spaces, poor lighting, temperature extremes, materials, and by-products.
- Required to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding; crouch, kneel, push, pull, lift, and carry tools, materials, and equipment throughout the facility.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
- Operation of material-handling equipment such as cranes, chain hoists, and lift trucks.
- Willingness to work overtime, emergency call-ins, shutdowns, and scheduled shift rotations as required.
