OverviewTRC is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Substation Resident Engineer for various exciting projects in Bay area.
ResponsibilitiesAbout the Project
We are seeking a Resident Engineer to support BART's Track Interlocking Replacement Program. The work includes renewal and replacement of interlockings, duct bank construction, special trackwork installations, and coordination with BART in-house construction forces.
Several projects are currently active, including:
• A85 Interlocking
• K-Line Interlocking Renewal
• Special Trackwork Procurement
• HMC South End Connector
The position is expected to extend over multiple years, subject to performance and program needs. This role will support ongoing concurrent interlocking and track renewal efforts.
The Resident Engineer will serve as the primary construction management lead for multiple interlocking-related projects. The role requires strong coordination skills, field presence, and the ability to operate effectively within a complex transit agency environment.
This position is based at BART Headquarters (BHQ), five days per week, with night and weekend field work required during shutdowns and critical installations.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead daily construction progress meetings.
• Coordinate system access and track allocation requests
• Support shutdown planning and construction sequencing.
• Oversee duct bank and special trackwork installation activities.
• Review submittals, RFIs, and work plans.
• Coordinate contractor activities with BART Maintenance of Way (MOW), Rail Signals & Systems (RS&S). Operations, and other stakeholders.
• Conduct field inspections, including night work during cutovers.
• Monitor schedule performance and support accelerated delivery.
• Prepare executive-level status presentations and reports.
• Serve as primary point of contact between contractor, CM team, and BART staff.
QualificationsA minimum of 5 years' resident engineer experience is desired.
Preferred Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California.
Ability to work independently, make effective decisions concerning construction work in progress, and solve field problems.
A thorough understanding of field methods, practices, and construction office procedures

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
