As the Project Manager, you will oversee complex Electrical projects within our Utilities Construction Division from inception to completion, ensuring they meet schedule, specifications, and budget. Your focus will be on safety, quality, cost control, and effective communication with all stakeholders.
In this role you will:- Lead assigned projects (10-50M+ range) to achieve cost, schedule, quality, safety, and contract performance goals
- Define project objectives, policies, and performance standards in alignment with company and contract requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams
- Develop and manage construction schedules and milestones
- Monitor, report, and forecast progress, labour productivity, budget, and costs
- Ensure compliance with HSE regulations, company policies, and contractual obligations
- Prepare project estimates and negotiate scope changes as needed
- Draft and manage contracts, including revisions and additions
- Ensure timely completion of monthly cost forecasting, productivity reports, and project documentation
- Identify and correct areas of risk within work/contracts/WIP
- Coordinate materials, equipment, and workforce resources
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAMWe're looking for a proven leader with the skills and experience to deliver exceptional results. Here's what will set you up for success in this role:
- A Degree or Diploma in one or more of the following:
- Construction Project Management
- Electrical Engineering
- OR Red Seal Electrical Journeyman certification
- The following certifications/designations are considered an asset: P.Eng. designation, PMP designation, Gold Seal Certification, Construction safety certifications
- 5+ years as a Project Manager in the construction industry with a contractor
- 5-10 years working in the electrical industry with direct experience in large-scale electrical utility projects
- Proven experience in estimation, strategic procurement, and negotiation
- Experience commissioning, integration and applying QA/QC to projects
- Experience with medium and high voltage utility work, roadway lighting, traffic signals and substations is considered an asset
- Experience with P3 and/or design-build projects is considered an asset
- Experience in WWTP projects is considered an asset
SKILLS, ABILITIES & OTHER REQUIREMENTSTo excel in this role, you should bring a strong mix of technical expertise, leadership, and organizational skills, including:
- Contract management and risk identification
- Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
- Ability to interpret project designs and specifications
- Applicable local and provincial labour codes
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Organization, time management, and cross team collaboration
- Technical Proficiency in: MS Office Suite, Microsoft Project (required), JD Edwards or an Oracle-based ERP system
- Knowledge of Procore Construction Management Software
- Willing and able to travel to sites around Vancouver Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island
- Valid BC Driver's License
The expected salary range for this role is between $95,000 and $125,000. The starting salary will be determined based on several factors such as the successful candidate's qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Base pay is one component of Black & McDonald's total rewards package.
