Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to join our Client's team. This role is critical to executing capital and improvement projects. The successful candidate will modify or create electrical and controls drawings, design control boxes and wire routing, create specifications for electrical and control components, and manage projects using the Front-End Loaded (FEL) process. This position is expected to convert to full time / direct with our client after a period of approx. 3 months.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical system design:
o Modify existing system electrical drawings: sub-stations and power distribution to manufacturing equipment, starters, VFDs, protection systems, drives/motors, power and DCS interfacing system, etc.
o Create new electrical and control design/drawings for projects.
o Specify control box: layout and wiring diagrams
o Specify cable routing
o Specify components specification: cable size, motor Client, VFD, sensors, starters, electrical safety and protection devices, etc.
o Ensure compliance with electrical, governmental, safety and operational standards.
Project Management (FEL Process):
o Work with engineers to complete the electrical requirements on projects
o Lead mechanical projects from concept through execution using the FEL methodology.
o Develop scopes, budgets, schedules, and risk assessments for capital and improvement projects.
o Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure successful project delivery.
o Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to assess risks and impacts.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in heavy industrial environments, preferably in alumina or similar refining operations.
• Proven experience in electrical design.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with FEL project methodology.
• Knowledge of alumina refining processes and equipment.
• Knowledge of DCS
