Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting an Electrical Power Engineer (3914) in Oak Ridge, TN.

Position Summary

The Electrical Power Engineer will support substation and site electrical power planning for complex technical facilities and equipment installations. This role will help define reliable power distribution concepts, coordinate electrical infrastructure needs, and support integration of site power requirements with engineering, design, procurement, construction, and operations stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and support electrical power substation and site planning activities for facility, utility, and process equipment needs.
  • Evaluate site power capacity, distribution approaches, equipment layouts, and interface requirements for safe and reliable electrical service.
  • Coordinate electrical planning inputs with mechanical, process, controls, civil, manufacturing, and project delivery teams.
  • Prepare technical documentation, design criteria, calculations, sketches, equipment specifications, and planning packages to support design and execution.
  • Support constructability, maintainability, safety, quality, and code compliance reviews for electrical power infrastructure and site utility systems.
  • Identify electrical risks, design constraints, long-lead equipment needs, and integration issues that may affect project cost, schedule, or performance.

Requirements

Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience with electrical power distribution, substation planning, site electrical infrastructure, or facility power systems.
  • Working knowledge of electrical design principles, load planning, equipment sizing, grounding, one-line diagrams, and coordination with utility or facility power systems.
  • Ability to support multidisciplinary engineering design packages and communicate technical requirements clearly across project teams.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety, applicable codes, standards, quality expectations, and configuration control requirements.
  • Ability to work in a highly technical, safety-conscious environment supporting complex government or industrial projects.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting DOE, NNSA, nuclear, laboratory, industrial chemical, manufacturing, or other highly regulated facility projects.
  • Experience with medium-voltage distribution, substations, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, emergency power, or power system studies.
  • Experience coordinating electrical infrastructure for custom process equipment, high-temperature systems, or advanced energy applications.


Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, and directly relevant electrical power planning or design experience may be considered.

Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
