Full Job Description
What You'll Do

As an Engineer I, you'll apply standard design engineering techniques on small projects or selected segments of larger work-supporting analyses, drawings, coordination, and client communication while developing toward responsible charge under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Begin assuming responsible charge for portions of project designs under the supervision of the EOR and within your control and expertise.
  • Develop design approaches and concepts with conceptual input/oversight from the EOR; perform engineering studies and analyses using industry software.
  • Oversee preparation of drawings and documentation; ensure accuracy, neatness, and adherence to standards; review colleague work and provide feedback.
  • Coordinate equipment and overall design space requirements with the architect and other disciplines; communicate design requirements clearly.
  • Attend internal kickoff/design meetings and meetings with owners/clients/architects as needed; document decisions and action items.
  • Coordinate with authorities, utilities, and municipalities to incorporate construction, code, and government requirements.
  • Assist with discipline man-hour budgets; plan work to schedule and report progress, risks, and needed changes to the project manager.
  • Perform studies, load calculations, and equipment selection appropriate to the project design; review work for technical accuracy before QA/QC.
  • Respond to contractor and supplier questions during bid and construction; review shop drawings and submittals.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and observe installed construction; comment based on design specifications, owner expectations, and codes.
  • Maintain detailed records of communications with clients, contractors, vendors, and team members; contribute to lessons learned.
  • Support training and mentoring of designers and EITs; maintain continuous learning on codes, software, and industry trends; assist PMs as needed.

Who We're Looking For

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college with four years applicable experience in discipline design and analysis
  • Registered Professional Engineer

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of engineering theories and methodologies; ability to perform studies, load calculations, and equipment selection.
  • Proficiency with industry software (Revit, AutoCAD) and discipline-specific tools (e.g., Trace700, SKM).
  • Knowledge of drafting/design procedures, standards, and specifications; knowledge of applicable codes and regulations.
  • Strong technical writing and written communication; clear speech clarity; strong comprehension and follow-through.
  • Detail-oriented with sound judgment and decision-making; effective interpersonal skills and ability to mentor designers/EITs.
