Description

We are currently looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team for a Heavy Civil Construction Project in Norfolk, Virginia.

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the construction, installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of tunnel electrical, ITS, communications, and safety systems.

-Project: Heavy Civil Construction Project

-Estimated duration of the position: 1 year - In general, when the project ends, we try to place the employee in other projects to give him/her continuity.

-Responsibilities:

- Support the installation and construction of electrical, ITS, and communications systems within the tunnel, approach structures, and support facilities.

- Coordinate field activities related to power distribution, lighting, control cabinets, conduits, cable routing, grounding, and electrical infrastructure.

- Oversee and coordinate the installation of CCTV cameras, fiber optic networks, radio/repeater systems, AM/FM rebroadcast systems, traffic detection devices, and related communications equipment.

- Support the integration of tunnel electrical systems with ITS, SCADA, control room, and traffic operations systems.

- Review electrical drawings, technical specifications, shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and installation procedures.

- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, field crews, design teams, and client representatives to resolve technical issues during construction.

- Monitor field progress and verify that installations are completed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, codes, and quality requirements.

- Support testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and system acceptance activities for electrical, communications, and tunnel safety systems.

- Assist with inspections, punch list management, redlines, as-built documentation, progress reporting, and technical records.

- Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards, electrical codes, project requirements, and site procedures.

- Support coordination of electrical interfaces with ventilation, fire-life safety, traffic management, emergency communications, and tunnel operations systems.

-Working hours: Monday to Friday- 9 work hours+ 1 hour lunch break. Flexibility required.

-Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of industrial electrical experience (Heavy civil infrastructure projects preferred).
  • Planning, coordination, and management of electrical systems.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail oriented.
