The Electrical Engineer (EE) supports the Maintenance and Process Engineering departments by assisting Electrical and Mechanical Technicians with projects, troubleshooting, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role applies electrical engineering principles, practices, and procedures to improve equipment reliability, automation systems, process efficiency, and product quality within the manufacturing environment.
Under the direction of the Plant Engineering or Maintenance Manager, the Electrical Engineer assists with electrical system design, develops and maintains electrical drawings and documentation, supports equipment modifications, and recommends improvements to electrical and control systems to enhance manufacturing performance and operational safety.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
- S.E.E (preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Electrical Engineering role
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications, certifications, and/or licenses)
- 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong commitment to promoting and maintaining a proactive safety culture
- Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems and controls
- Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, and industrial automation systems
- Experience coordinating contractors and outside vendors
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities effectively
- Experience managing project material and labor costs within departmental budgets
- Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electrical design software
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:- Assist with troubleshooting and improving electrical and automation systems
- Support installation, relocation, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, and related documentation
- Support maintenance teams with electrical and controls troubleshooting
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure project requirements and specifications are met
- Obtain project quotations and serve as the primary contact for electrical contractors and suppliers
- Order electrical components and project materials as required
- Participate in planning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement meetings
- Support preventative and predictive maintenance initiatives
- Maintain working knowledge of plant electrical distribution systems, manufacturing processes, and industrial safety standards
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:- Root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
- Understanding of industrial electrical systems, controls, and automation
- Improving process yield, throughput, productivity, and equipment reliability
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement methodologies
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
- Experience designing, specifying, and commissioning electrical systems and controls
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment
- Strong problem-solving capability with hands-on experience applying methodologies such as 8D, Six Sigma, PFMEA, DMAIC, and other root cause analysis and continuous improvement tools.
