Full Job Description
The role:

We have an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer - Instrumentation Focus. This role will be 70% design-driven, with the other 30% on the production floor. Instrumentation is the core focus of this multifaceted position, which also draws on electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and production planning. This position is a great fit for someone who wants to further their knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and project engineering. We are willing to invest in and train the right person who has some overlapping background.

Your responsibilities:
  • Specify instruments by evaluating process, electrical, and mechanical requirements to ensure the right product is selected for each application.
  • Develop electrical hardware work packages that detail everything needed to connect electrical panels to field devices, including wiring, lugs, disconnects, and termination hardware.
  • Produce installation instructions and parts lists for interfacing electrical and mechanical systems, covering field connectors, cable glands, and enclosure mounting.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production specialists, with mentorship and support as you grow into a subject matter expert role.
  • Support production floor operations approximately 30% of the time, applying hands-on knowledge to assembly, troubleshooting, and system commissioning.

You will be a great fit if you have:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • An interest in instrumentation and how process, electrical, and mechanical needs intersect to select the right product for an application.
  • 2 -4 years of experience building a foundation in electrical and mechanical principles.
  • A high degree of organization and attention to detail, with a genuine interest in mapping out complete systems - lugs, wires, disconnects, glands, and all.
  • The ability to multitask comfortably across a varied, fast-moving role.
  • Curiosity, resourcefulness, and a proactive drive to learn new technical principles and technologies.
  • The ability to read and interpret both P&IDs and electrical schematics.
  • Working knowledge of EPLAN, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks (an asset; training available).
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills, paired with a positive, can-do attitude.
