ELECTRICAL ENGINEER I & II

Deployable Energy

Position Summary

Early to Mid-career, hands-on Electrical Engineer responsible for supporting electrical engineering execution within a growing advanced energy organization. Reporting to the Lead / Principal Electrical Engineer or Head of Engineering, this individual will contribute to electrical system design, product development, systems integration, testing, documentation, and development of advanced energy technology. This role is focused on product engineering, technical execution, and multidisciplinary collaboration within first-of-a-kind technology development rather than traditional site-based project engineering. The successful candidate will be capable of working independently on defined technical assignments while receiving guidance on complex architecture, technical strategy, and high-risk engineering decisions.

Functional Scope

Electrical Engineering Execution - Support hands-on electrical engineering work across product development, integration, testing, and development activities.

Electrical Systems Design Support - Assist in developing electrical system designs, requirements, specifications, and supporting technical documentation.

AC/DC Power Distribution Support - Support design and integration of AC and DC power distribution systems for safe, reliable equipment operation.

Equipment and System Interface Support - Define and document electrical interfaces between equipment, subsystems, and adjacent engineering disciplines.

Electrical Schematics, Calculations, and Documentation - Prepare and maintain schematics, calculations, drawings, specifications, and controlled engineering records.

Instrumentation and Controls Interface Support - Support electrical integration of instrumentation, monitoring, automation, and controls interfaces.

Testing, Troubleshooting, and Technical Validation Support - Assist with verification, validation, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for assigned electrical systems.

Configuration Management and Controlled Engineering Documentation - Follow configuration control, change-management, and document-governance practices to maintain design integrity.

Key Responsibilities

Perform electrical engineering calculations, design tasks, schematics, specifications, and technical evaluations for assigned systems and components.

Support development and integration of electrical systems, equipment, interfaces, power distribution, and related product-engineering activities.

Prepare, review, and maintain controlled electrical design documentation, drawings, bills-of-material inputs, and engineering records.

Support testing, verification, validation, troubleshooting, supplier technical reviews, and technical issue resolution.

Collaborate with mechanical, controls, systems engineering, project, quality, testing, and other technical disciplines.

Support configuration management, change control, and controlled documentation throughout ongoing design development.

Take increasing ownership of assigned technical work while escalating complex architecture, safety-significant, or high-risk decisions appropriately.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

Approximately 3-10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.

Hands-on experience supporting electrical design, analysis, documentation, testing, troubleshooting, or integration activities.

Experience working with electrical systems in power generation, advanced energy, industrial, aerospace, defense, automotive, oil and gas, EPC/EPCM, or another complex technical environment.

Understanding of engineering quality, safety, configuration management, and controlled-documentation practices.

Ability to work independently on assigned technical tasks while collaborating closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.

Strong communication, documentation, attention to detail, ownership, and technical problem-solving capability.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in nuclear, advanced reactor, SMR, microreactor, naval nuclear, power generation, aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated, safety-critical environment.

Exposure to product development, first-of-a-kind technology development, prototype development, or technology maturation.

Experience with AC/DC power distribution, power conversion, generators, rotating equipment, industrial controls, instrumentation, or monitoring systems.

Familiarity with electrical codes, standards, engineering tools, design software, drawing packages, or analysis methods relevant to the discipline.

Experience supporting supplier technical reviews, factory acceptance testing, or formal technical validation activities.

Engineer-in-Training certification, Professional Engineer path, or advanced technical training is a plus.
