ROLE

The Electrical Engineer for the Stingray Product Development Team is responsible for the design, development, validation, and sustainment of electrical and electronic systems supporting the Stingray product line. This role is critical to both new product development (NPD) and ongoing production support, ensuring that electrical designs are robust, manufacturable, testable, and supportable throughout the product lifecycle.

In this high-mix, low-volume (HMLV) environment, the Electrical Engineer will partner closely with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Operations, Test, and Supply Chain to bring products from concept through production readiness and into stable manufacturing. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting capability and a strong commitment to maintaining production flow and first-pass yield.

RESPONSIBILITIES & PERFORMANCE MEASURES
  • Design and develop electrical systems, schematics, and layouts for Stingray products, ensuring performance, reliability, manufacturability, and clear documentation.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Systems, and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure effective electro-mechanical integration and production-ready designs.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for electrical issues encountered during production, test, or field use.
  • Partner with Operations, Test Technicians, and Quality to address yield losses, test failures, and intermittent issues while protecting schedule adherence and customer commitments.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of electrical and functional test methods, fixtures, and acceptance criteria, ensuring alignment with design intent.
  • Promote standardized electrical design practices and documentation consistent with ISO 9001 / AS9100 requirements and continuous improvement objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in schematic design, layout, and analysis. Preferably for embedded applications.
  • Understand and analyze project requirements and constraints to design a schematic, layout, and work with PCB houses to produce a complete product.
  • Design schematics for safety critical applications while understanding power management, ESD protection, and similar safety standards.
  • Component and trace layout for signal integrity and safety while adhering to manufacturer and project constraints.
  • Circuit analysis experience with PSPICE or related.
  • Ability to read and interpret datasheets, schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams
  • ECAD experience (Altium is heavily preferred, Eagle, KiCad, or similar)
  • Knowledge of using lab test equipment (bench-top power supplies, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.)
  • Familiarity with standard bus protocols (I2C, SPI / QSPI, UART, and USB)
  • Familiarity with low level programming knowledge (embedded C, C++, or Rust)
  • Design for manufacturing (understanding of design rules and producing required documentation and files.
  • Documentation of electrical schematics experience

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with implementing sensors (thermistors, hall effect, reed switch, etc.)
  • Hands on prototyping (soldering, protoboards, breadboards, board assembly, etc.)
  • Ability to create and interpret wire harness designs
  • Experience with motors (brushed, brushless, and stepper)
  • Experience with quadrature encoders
  • Scripting (python, bash, etc.)
  • Solid modelling (Solidworks, fusion, or similar)
  • Experience with PCB and wiring safety standards and principles (automotive, for example)
