Job Summary
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to own the design, development, and firmware of production test fixtures for CCA boards and finished products - from schematic and PCB layout through embedded firmware. This role is primarily focused on developing and sustaining test fixtures for existing products, including programming, verification, and functional test fixtures, using standard test methodologies and bench equipment to develop and validate them. You'll also work with manufacturing and suppliers to root-cause non-conforming material and feed failure data back into supplier corrective action, with light involvement in broader manufacturing support as needed.
Job Responsibilities
Core: Test Fixture & Firmware Design
• Design schematics and PCB layouts for test fixtures, including programming, verification, and functional test fixtures to support existing production boards
• Develop and modify firmware (C/C++) for test fixtures to support current products
• Apply appropriate test methodologies (e.g., ICT, functional test/FCT, boundary scan/JTAG) to fixture design based on product and defect type
• Use standard bench equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies) to develop, debug, and validate fixture hardware and firmware
• Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering on fixture design and integration
Supporting: Quality & Manufacturing
• Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on non-conforming material (NCM/NCR), particularly workmanship-related PCBA defects
• Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers on quality issues, feeding failure data into supplier corrective action (CAPA)
• Provide technical input to technical writers for test procedures and travelers as needed
• Light involvement in broader manufacturing support (process improvement, NPI, sourcing/obsolescence) as needed
Required Skills & Experience
• BSEE (Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering) minimum, plus 5-7 years in an electrical design or test engineering role
• Strong command of schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium experience strongly preferred), with a portfolio of fielded hardware designs
• Solid embedded C/C++ background, comfortable owning firmware from bring-up through long-term support
• Track record selecting and implementing production test approaches (ICT, FCT, boundary scan/JTAG, or similar) based on product complexity and failure modes
• Fluent with an oscilloscope, DMM, and power supply as everyday tools, not occasional ones
• A methodical approach to failure analysis - able to isolate an electrical/electronic issue to root cause, not just a symptom
• Comfortable being the technical point of contact with external suppliers or CMs when a workmanship or assembly quality issue needs to be run to ground
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610 (and IPC-620, if applicable) workmanship standards
• Familiarity with version control practices and ECO (Engineering Change Order) processes
• Experience troubleshooting non-conforming material (NCM) in a manufacturing or production environment
• Familiarity with DFM principles
• Familiarity with RoHS/REACH and CE testing/compliance standards
• Soldering experience
• Experience supporting NPI (New Product Introduction)
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams
