Summary:Beaver Aerospace & Defense, a Héroux-Devtek company, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Livonia, MI engineering team. In this role, you will translate customer requirements into robust electrical designs for the precision ballscrews, actuators, and flywheels that power critical commercial aerospace and defense programs. You will own the full design lifecycle - from concept and prototyping through testing, design-for-manufacturability analysis, and product release - while partnering with vendors, the shop floor, and program teams to move designs from prototype to production. The ideal candidate brings strong CAD proficiency and electrical engineering depth, a project management mindset, and a "do what it takes" approach to solving complex problems in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment.

Main responsibilities:
  • Review customer documents and translate requirements into electrical designs.
  • Design, prototype, test, and evaluate subunits and systems; iterate as needed.
  • Conduct design-for-manufacturability and lifecycle analyses.
  • Write Work Instructions.
  • Release product designs, document changes, and communicate updates.
  • Write technical specifications and design criteria based on client needs.
  • Monitor and integrate current/new technologies to enhance solutions.
  • Select, recommend, and document material/component choices.
  • Work with shop floor to troubleshoot problems.
  • Liaise with vendors to communicate technical and scheduling requirements.
  • Manage multiple projects, tracking milestones using MS Project and other tools.
  • Create designs using CAD and other computer-aided software.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Five years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in CAD and design/drafting techniques.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and NC-based languages, including robotics control.
  • Working knowledge of engineering principles in electrical design and manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of production processes, quality control, and cost analysis.
  • Strong mathematical and statistical foundation for technical applications.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check (physical exam may be required for certain positions).

Our ideal candidate:Our ideal candidate is a technically curious electrical engineer who thrives at the intersection of design and production. You bring critical thinking and creative problem-solving to complex technical challenges, and you approach ambiguity with deductive and inductive reasoning rather than waiting for direction. You're a strong project and time manager who can juggle multiple programs without losing track of milestones, and you communicate clearly, both in writing and in person. Whether you're walking the shop floor, briefing a program team, or coordinating with a vendor.

You're comfortable visualizing complex systems, recognizing patterns across designs, and organizing information so that nothing falls through the cracks. You make sound decisions with the data you have, exercise good judgment when the data is incomplete, and collaborate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and quality. Above all, you bring a "do what it takes" attitude and the kind of ownership that turns prototypes into production-ready hardware on aerospace timelines.

Work culture and environment:

Are you known as an innovation driver? Are you looking for your next challenge and opportunity to learn & excel in Aerospace? Héroux-Devtek offers you the opportunity to work in a diverse and team-oriented environment where skills development is a top priority. Here, employees are at the heart of the realization of the product, developed through engineering centers, factories, a service unit, and an accessible and agile head office for fast decision-making.

Be part of a motivating top-notch team taking Aerospace to new heights!

Candidates must meet security screening requirements as set out by ITAR directives.
