Full Job Description
EHS Specialist to join our team! The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will ensure Company policies and procedures carry out all Safety, Health, and Environmental related activities and to ensure compliance. The EHS Specialist initiates and implements safety programs while promoting a "Safe on Purpose" culture. The EHS specialist will support the department in facilitating information to meet customer request requirements. This position will encompass a wide array of activities and requires attention to detail

Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary duties and responsibilities will vary with the specific position. Typical responsibilities are listed below. This list is not inclusive.
  • Accountable for implementing programs and procedures to ensure the Company complies with safety, risk management, and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • This position reports to the EHS Manager and will communicate directly with the EHS Manager on project assignments, status, and other EHS-related subjects.
  • Support safety activities as outlined in Raymond's Covid Prevention Program
  • Tracks, Assesses, and analyzes data to identify risks and opportunities. Provides recommendations and supports prevention activities.
  • Responsible for maintaining and reporting on site-specific safety programs and regulatory activities: Safety metric performance reporting, CERS, SPCC, SCAQMD, and EPA reporting.
  • Occasionally, the position directly interacts with and takes directions from organization executives.
  • Train and direct employees and leadership on established Environmental and Safety standards and procedures.
  • Prepare inspection reports and generate team-recommended corrective actions.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly and yearly reports to Raymond West and Raymond Corporation as appropriate.
  • Ensure appropriate regulatory training is completed
  • Participates in new hire safety orientation activities
  • Evaluate effectiveness and support Hazardous Waste Management activities
  • Collaborate with HR and insurance providers to support managing claims to closure.
  • Facilitate safety meetings with management and key employees.
  • Leads the Safety Committee meetings and associated activities.
  • Performs risk assessments of shop, warehouse, and in-field customer site assignments. Report findings and provide recommendations to mitigate risks with the leadership team with the support of the EHS Manager.
  • Supports leadership in completing investigation and root cause analysis of workplace injuries, illnesses, and collisions.
  • Participating in scheduled leadership meetings
  • Requires the availability to flex work time to support the organization
  • Other projects or duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent Organizational Time Management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with employees, Co-workers, and Managers in other departments
  • Must be willing to work off-hours as specific needs dictate and willing to assume more responsibility as required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills working with all levels of employees, customers, and management
  • Ability to facilitate training for all levels of employees, supervision, and management
  • Self-starter with the ability to follow up and follow through and meet deadlines
  • Able to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team environment
  • Presents a solution-driven mindset
  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.
  • Experience within large warehouses, logistics, and manufacturing operations.
  • Strong technical knowledge and background in OSHA regulatory standards, Lean Six Sigma, safety engineering, risk management, and environmental protection.
  • Worker's Compensation Claim management experience a plus

Education/Experience:

Minimum Education and Experience: Determined by position
  • Preferred: Degree in Human Resources, Occupational Safety & Health, Risk Management.
  • Acceptable: An associate's degree in a related field is required, and a bachelor's degree is preferred, or a high school diploma and 5 years' experience in a related field with at least 2 years in a safety/environmental role.
  • Advanced training or certifications preferred such as a Professional Certificate from ASSP / OTI Certification or comparable including but not limited to (e.g. Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Safety & Health Manager (CSHM), Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS), OTI Safety Associate or other safety specialist certificate.

Travel Requirement:
  • 15% (6 hours a week) - 20% (8 hours a week)
  • Must be able to be insured by Raymond West.

Pay Range:
  • The salary range for this position is $66,650 - $112,600. The specific pay offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.

Qualified candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
