EHS Manager

Position Summary: Primary functions are planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring health, safety and environmental policies and programs to analyze and control conditions contributing to occupational and environmental hazards at Polyglass facilities in NV, PA, TX, FL and AZ.

This position reports to the Director of Quality and provides an interface with all departments as required for environmental, health, and safety policies, regulations, and programs. This position directs the activities of the Corporate EHS Specialist 100% of the time and Operations Coordinators for approximately 10% of their time. This position also involves very close liaison with, and support and coordination of, OSHA, EPA, and local, state, and federal guidelines and requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Promotes health, safety and environmental regulations by ensuring that Work Instructions (WI's) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) are adhered to in compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Promotes the quality system through adhering to the elements of and being familiar with the philosophy, quality statement, quality manual, and procedures.
  • Develops, provides, and/or recommends safety programs and associated training such as but not limited to:
    • Emergency Action Plans
    • Powered industrial trucks (forklifts)
    • Personal protective equipment
    • Machine guarding
    • Hazardous material communications
    • Lockout-tag out
    • Confined spaces
    • Respiratory protection
    • First aid, CPR, Blood-borne pathogens, etc.
    • Portable fire extinguishers
    • Chemical hygiene in laboratories
  • Provides technical guidance to the Plant Managers, site Operations Coordinators and hourly workers as it relates to environmental, health, and safety.
  • Recommends and purchases equipment, devices, and programs designed to reduce or eliminate safety and environmental hazards.
  • Plans, coordinates and conducts plant audits of all domestic Polyglass facilities for program implementation, training, and recordkeeping relating to safety and environmental compliance.
  • Coordinates the collection of data and prepares internal reports and those required at Federal, State and Local levels. Examples include SARA 312 & 313, NESHAP reporting, Stormwater, Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasures, Air Permits, OSHA logs and Department of Homeland Security.
  • Maintains working knowledge of new developments in the industry and government regulations pertaining to environmental, safety, and health issues.
  • Coordinates and manages the activities of outside resources such as consultants and contractors.
  • Performs other duties as required.


Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in EH&S role is required including management of EHS staff
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is preferred. Associate's degree will be considered.
  • ISO-9001-2015 experience preferred
  • Travel as needed (expected to be 25% on average)


Location for this position will be within commutable distance to one of our primary facilities in TX, FL, PA, NV or TX
