This position is based on-site in Long Beach, California, policies, procedures, and training programs for facilities, safety, emergency response, and environmental management and requires regular physical presence at the facility.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Manage day-to-day facilities operations, maintenance programs, vendor relationships, and capital projects to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant workplace environments.
- Lead environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement facilities, safety, emergency response, and environmental policies, procedures, and training programs that support operational excellence and employee well-being.
- Monitor facility performance, budgets, safety metrics, incident trends, and compliance activities, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and control costs.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, ensuring timely corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Manage injury prevention initiatives and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Oversee all workers' compensation activities, ensuring timely reporting, claim resolution, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination with employees, managers, healthcare providers, and third-party administrators.
- Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Human Resources, and external partners to drive continuous improvement, workplace safety, and business continuity initiatives.
- Lead and develop Facilities and EHS team members by providing coaching, performance management, and professional development opportunities.
- Present facilities and EHS performance metrics, compliance updates, and strategic recommendations to leadership to support informed decision-making and organizational objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Required
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Facilities Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
- 5+ years of Facilities and/or EHS experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated environments.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and workplace safety programs.
- Experience managing vendors, contractors, maintenance programs, and capital improvement projects.
- Experience managing workers' compensation programs and workplace injury investigations.
- Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS reporting systems.
Preferred
- Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHMM, OHST, or equivalent.
- Experience supporting ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or similar management systems.
- Experience with sustainability initiatives and environmental programs.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
- Experience within a medical device manufacturing environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB - 100% onsite position located in Long Beach, California.
- Regular presence on the manufacturing floor, warehouse, laboratory, and office environments is required.
- Must be able to walk the facility frequently, conduct inspections, and respond to operational or safety issues in real time.
- Occasional travel may be required to support other company locations, vendors, or projects.
