Job Description

The EHS/ESG Senior Specialist position implements and maintains company policies and adherence to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. It is involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and is able to propose health, safety and environmental recommendations for implementation.

The position is responsible for ensuring compliance to legal EHS/ESG requirements at Stäubli Corporation in Duncan, SC and Windsor, CA. Based in Duncan, this position serves as the subject matter expert for environmental and occupational regulatory compliance, risk reduction, sustainability initiatives, and Integrated Management System (IMS) performance.

The role is accountable for maintaining, improving, and driving compliance with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems, while supporting Stäubli's global sustainability objectives and operational excellence strategy. The position partners closely with site leadership, functional managers, employees, and corporate stakeholders to foster a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities and Objectives:
  • Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and/or guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA, and NIOSH and other applicable regulatory agencies
  • Lead, support, deploy and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification for Stäubli Duncan
  • Lead, support, and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification for Stäubli Windsor
  • Collaborate with Quality to ensure compliance of the Integrated Management System
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director, HR Director, Divisional Directors and other leaders to complete job hazard assessments and implement EHS/ ESG policies and procedures
  • Lead all aspects of accident and incident investigations including initial follow-up, root cause analysis, and corrective action development and closure
  • Apply risk-based thinking methodologies to improve EHS/ ESG programs
  • Lead and sponsor all site safety and environmental programs including facilitate Safety and ESG committees
  • Promote employee engagement and accountability for Safety and Sustainability Culture
  • Monitor employee exposure to hazards and develop recommendations for any action needed when safety and environmental policies are not followed by employees
  • Work closely with Training and Development to ensure all staff have appropriate applicable training to their work environment
  • Perform and/ or cooperate with all internal and external safety and environmental compliance and regulatory audits to ensure compliance
  • Identify and lead opportunities to improve EHS and ESG performance while supporting business objectives
  • Routinely inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulations
  • Support integration of safety, EHS and sustainability considerations into new processes, equipment, and facility changes
  • Utilize data analytics to identify trends, prioritize risks, and measure effectiveness of improvement actions.
  • Partner with Stäubli corporate headquarter personnel to ensure alignment of global ESG/EHS activities and priorities
  • Adheres to all safety, quality and environmental standards


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field required
  • 5+ years of progressive EHS and ESG experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience maintaining or implementing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications
  • Multi-site manufacturing support experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying and documenting federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations
  • Strong organizational, listening and communication skills including ability to write comprehensive technical reports
  • Self-motivated, problem-solver and positive attitude required
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel. PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus but not required

Physical Requirements:
  • Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
  • Periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry objects
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times
  • Dexterity and accuracy as needed to operate equipment
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination
  • Must be able to navigate and observe all departments within the company

Work schedule:
  • Work will be onsite at our STC facility in Duncan, SC with up to 25% travel as needed.
  • Expectation to follow guidelines set forth in the Employee Handbook.
