Amazon's Device Supply Organization (DSO) is seeking an Economics Manager to lead the Decision Science team responsible for strategic demand forecasting and portfolio planning across Amazon's device product lines. This role sits at the intersection of science modeling, business judgment, and cross-functional alignment, translating roadmap plans, competitive signals, and category trends into forecasts that drive billions of dollars in supply chain and business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Manage and develop a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, applied scientists, and product managers; set vision, hire bar-raising talent, and foster a culture of scientific rigor and operational excellence
Forecast Stewardship: Own the overall forecast narrative across device product lines, ensuring portfolio-level coherence and across lifetime demand, pre-launch, and sustaining models
Category Benchmarking: Maintain a current view of category growth dynamics and shifting consumer preferences; calibrate topline forecast assumptions accordingly
New Program Evaluation: Assess the demand impact of roadmap additions - new features, form factors, market expansions - leveraging conjoint analysis, willingness-to-pay surveys, and portfolio simulation tools
Pre-Launch Forecasting: Execute and continuously improve the Pre-Launch Forecasting SOP, coordinating cross-functional reviews with Product, Sales, and Finance teams ahead of product launches
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in economics or equivalent
- Experience with at least one of the following: Matlab, R, Python, Stata
- Experience manipulating large sets of data, summarizing into metrics, and conducting appropriate statistical tests (e.g., regression, t-test, chi-square)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in applied economic analysis and with big data and machine learning or data science
- Experience building and growing teams of economists or machine learning scientists
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
