The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA), located in Des Moines, IA, is seeking an Economic Growth Marketing Manager to lead strategic marketing initiatives that promote Iowa as a premier destination for business investment, expansion, innovation, and international trade while supporting priorities that drive growth across the state.

Working primarily with IEDA's Global Business team and collaborating across the Economic Growth Division and with the Communications & Marketing Team, you will develop and execute campaigns that influence business leaders, site selectors, investors, entrepreneurs, and global partners while helping position Iowa for long-term economic success.

About this Opportunity:

As the Economic Growth Marketing Manager, you will directly support initiatives that create jobs, attract investment, strengthen key industries, expand international relationships, and help shape Iowa's economic future. Whether supporting a major business recruitment effort, promoting innovation programs, preparing for an international trade mission, or executing strategic priorities from division leadership and the Governor's Office, you'll play a key role in advancing opportunities that have a statewide impact.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of strategic marketing campaigns that support Iowa's business attraction, retention, expansion, innovation, and international trade initiatives.
  • Transform high-level economic development strategies into compelling messaging, value propositions, and integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain marketing materials, digital content, and storytelling initiatives that highlight Iowa's strengths and economic development successes.
  • Partner with internal teams and the Marketing & Communications team to ensure consistent branding, messaging, and project execution.
  • Support trade missions, business development events, conferences, and trade shows both domestically and internationally.
  • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, balancing shifting priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Track campaign performance, marketing activities, leads, and outcomes using CRM and reporting tools to inform future strategy and decision-making.

The Economic Growth Marketing Manager position is a non-merit, non-contract position that is classified by the State of Iowa as an Economic Development Specialist 3 and is exempt per FLSA regulations.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in public relations, business, journalism, marketing, or a closely related field and experience equal to four years of full-time work planning and developing content for media dissemination;

OR

A total of eight years of education and/or full-time experience, where 30 semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in a related field equals one year of full-time experience.
