SUMMARY OF POSITION: FM Industries is seeking a highly skilled
Electron Beam Weld Engineer to support welding process development, prototyping, and weldment testing. This role is responsible for establishing Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), optimizing Electron Beam (EB) welding processes, and supporting production operations through best practices, process improvements, and technical expertise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Develop, qualify, and optimize high-precision Electron Beam (EB) welding designs, processes, and parameters
- Support the design and development of weld fixtures and tooling
- Create and document welding procedures, standards, and production best practices
- Inspect welded assemblies to verify compliance with AWS, AMS, ANSI, customer, and internal specifications
- Investigate welding defects, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Coordinate welding qualification testing and interpret mechanical testing and non-destructive examination (NDE) results
- Provide technical support to manufacturing engineers, welders, and production teams on welding techniques and process requirements
- Analyze production data and recommend process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency
- Maintain compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, company policies, and safe work practices
- Participate in job safety analyses (JSA), management of change (MOC) activities, and other safety initiatives
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:- 2 to 5 years of accomplished Electron Beam (EB) welding experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- CNC machining experience, including machine operation and programming utilizing G-code, conversational programming, and up to 5-axis machining
- Hands-on Aluminum welding experience and strong understanding of Aluminum oxidation.
- Must have weld development experience and cross section evaluation knowledge
- Read and understand shop drawings and navigate SolidWorks drawing files
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks, CAD/CAM knowledge or ability to learn quickly
- Strong problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills
- Experience in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma techniques
- Proven ability to independently manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision
- Exceptional attention to details
- Excellent verbal and written communication and training skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline preferred
- Semiconductor, Aerospace & Defense, Medical Device, Automotive, Oil & Gas industry manufacturing experience preferred

WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:- Generally low noise levels in office areas
- Occasional exposure to moderate noise levels and moving mechanical equipment in production areas
