Salary Range: L06: $80,000 - $102,000; L07:  $93,000 - $124,000/ year

 

Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an early career Software Engineer, supporting the Test Operations and Sustainment Contract, at Arnold Engineering Development Complex at Arnold AFB, TN. The engineer will be working as a member of the Engineering Solutions branch responsible for supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. The Engineering Solutions branch performs cutting edge technology development work in support of the National Defense Strategy.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide software development support to the mission at AEDC through the Engineering Solutions branch as well as special projects that may be assigned as mission requirements require. The goal is for this developer to work hand in hand with engineers, physicists, and other software developers to accomplish mission needs.

 

 

Job Duties:

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy engineering software tools as part of a small team of developers and engineers.
  • Develop new capabilities such as standalone codes or libraries that can be integrated into existing codes.
  • Maintain legacy codebases, adding new capabilities or troubleshooting and resolving undesirable behavior.
  • Work with engineers to automate complex workflows or repetitive tasks.
  • Port locally developed and third-party software to a variety of HPC platforms, interfacing with various hardware, compiler, MPI, and queueing system environments.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and engineering reports.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in software engineering or computer science from an accredited college or university.
  • L07: Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience.

NOTE: This posting is specifically for those with less than 5 years’ professional experience

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network
  • Due to Air Force Security requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or co-op experience, preferably at AEDC
  • Relevant work experience or college coursework in software engineering including design, coding, configuration control and maintenance
  • Experience with Python and related scientific and visualization libraries (SciPy, NumPy, Matplotlib, etc)
  • Experience with Linux CLI and High-Performance Computing environments
  • Practical experience with C, C++, and/or Fortran considered a plus
  • Working knowledge of object-oriented software design, automated software testing, and distributed version control systems.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with flexibility to accomplish mission objectives
  • Strong communication skills (including verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated proactiveness and initiative to drive results
  • Exhibits strong level of technical curiosity and desire to seek understanding
  • Active Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance
