The Resilient Embedded Systems department (5327) is seeking a motivated embedded software engineer to support large multi-disciplinary programs critical to national security. The successful candidate will support the design, development, test, and deployment of novel embedded software solutions. The successful candidate will have a background and understanding of embedded software and systems, FPGAs, and a readiness to apply this understanding to a variety of hardware systems.
You will work alongside world-class authorities and emerging leaders and use your skills in the following areas:
- Embedded software
- Debugging alongside electrical engineers
- Verification & validation techniques
- Real-time data processing
- Object-oriented software frameworks and architecture development
- Networked and distributed architectures
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite.
Salary Range$102,400 - $199,700
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance
Qualifications We DesireThe ideal R&D S&E Computer Science candidate will in addition possess the following:
- Graduate degree in Computer Science or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation).
- Demonstrated software development skills and familiarity with modern software development practices and tools (e.g., Agile).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, and a passion to improve and expand technical skills.
Also for this posting we are seeking individuals with the following experience:
- An advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or relevant field; or a Bachelor's degree in field above with at least 4 years of relevant experience
- Experience developing and deploying embedded software
- Experience targeting embedded processors in SOCs (system on chip)
- Experience with embedded OS (Ubuntu, GreenHills, etc)
- Demonstrated ability using revisions control and bug tracking tools (Jira, Gitlab, Git)
- Demonstrated experience with C, C++ and Python
- Familiarity with guidance, navigation, and control algorithms
- Testing and debugging software systems
- Experience with large distributed command, control, and data processing systems
- Experience developing test plans to verify and validate high-rigor designs
- Interest in leading multidisciplinary technical teams
