Salary Range: Grade 06: $74,000 - $96,000; Grade 07: $78,000 - $111,000 / year

 

 

Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Career Mechanical Systems Engineer supporting the Test Operations and Sustainment contract in our blow down wind tunnel designed for aerodynamic testing of supersonic and hypersonic systems and hardware at true flight conditions at Arnold Engineering Development Complex at Arnold AFB, TN. This Mechanical Engineer will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for maintaining and sustaining the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Job Summary

As a valuable member of our team, you would directly impact the ability to conduct ground testing in the blow down wind tunnel supporting a variety of test set ups such as propulsion, materials, structures, store separation, and directed energy lethality/survivability by executing system engineering responsibilities overseeing installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades of major mechanical equipment to ensure test readiness to meet customers’ requirements.

 

Job Duties:

Some of the specific duties of a mechanical systems engineer include (this is NOT an exhaustive list):

Under the direction of a more senior engineer:

  • Respond when systems malfunction, troubleshooting and directing corrective maintenance activities (or calling in the appropriate systems engineer for additional support) ensuring a timely return to service
  • Update and maintain system documentation for systems of responsibility
  • Work with multiple organizations such as design engineering, fabrication shops, DoD client, and other contractors
  • Develop with Asset Health Assurance personnel advanced maintenance plans
  • Conduct and write up system safety hazard analyses and write clear work instructions for operation and maintenance
  • Assess and communicate risk to stakeholders
  • Develop estimates for improvement projects
  • Work with planners, schedulers, and craft supervisors to safely plan and execute projects including maintenance work, upgrades, and test projects
  • Assist craft personnel with troubleshooting and oversee their work; provide technical leadership and guidance
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Grade 07: A minimum of 2 years engineering experience
  • Experience reading mechanical schematics and drawings
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network
  • Due to Air Force Security requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC
