Role

We are seeking an experienced Duty of Care professional with deep AI knowledge and practical hands-on experience to lead our global Duty of Care program. The Duty of Care Senior Manager is responsible for the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of the company's Travel Risk Management, Workplace Violence Prevention, Kidnap & Ransom (K&R) program, and our Workforce Assurance (backgrounds and drug testing protocols) leveraging Global Security, GSOC, Crisis Management, HR, and matrixed business partners. This role ensures Applied Materials meets its duty of care obligations to employees who travel, work at, or are otherwise exposed to these type risks during company business.

A core expectation of this role is the ability to apply AI tools and techniques in practical, day-to-day Duty of Care work, from AI-assisted travel risk monitoring and predictive threat scenario planning to automated case triage and intelligent alerting. The position partners closely with Global Security, Executive Protection, GSOC, Crisis Management, HR, Employee Relations, Legal, IT, Corporate Travel Services, Facilities, Risk Management, and executive leadership to design and maintain scalable, risk-based travel safety, workplace violence prevention, and K&R response solutions across global sites and business units. Beyond individual use, this leader will assist in the development and execution of the strategy to scale AI across the Duty of Care function, embedding AI-driven capabilities into monitoring, exercises, and reporting so that the entire program becomes faster, smarter, and more resilient over time.

Applied Materials is growing at a pace that is driving significant increases in headcount, global travel, and facilities, and growing our line of customer offerings. As a result, we expect over the next five years to have the most exciting and active R&D and manufacturing infrastructure pipeline in our history. This position plays a critical role in safeguarding the company's people, operations, and brand, delivering enterprise-level impact globally. To keep pace with this growth, the Duty of Care function must scale rapidly across an increasingly complex global footprint, and AI is central to that strategy. The Duty of Care Senior Manager directly enables employee safety by harnessing AI-driven insights, predictive risk

intelligence, and automation to build a program that scales with the business, and ensures leadership has confidence in the company's ability to screen and protect its people wherever they travel or work.

This position reports to the GSOC Director and is based in Austin, TX, out of the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC). The role requires travel up to 20%.

Key Responsibilities & Strategic Leadership
• Lead and enhance the Travel Risk Management, Workplace Violence Prevention, Kidnap & Ransom (K&R), and Workforce Assurance (WFAP) programs globally in alignment with duty of care obligations, ISO 31030 (travel risk management), ISO 45001 (occupational health & safety), FCRA, and industry best practices.

• Develop, maintain, and lead a multi-layered Workforce Assurance (background vetting/drug testing) center of excellence program partnering with corporate stakeholders and business leaders to promptly address escalations.
• Lead incident response and case management for travel security incidents, workplace violence threats, and K&R events, ensuring timely escalation, communication, and resolution.
• Conduct risk assessments for high-risk travel, international assignments, and site-specific workplace violence exposure, partnering with Risk, Legal, HR, and business leaders.
• Develop, maintain, and validate duty of care policies, standards, and playbooks, ensuring alignment with legal, regulatory, and insurance requirements across jurisdictions.
• Ensure alignment of Duty of Care activities with Business Continuity, Crisis Management, Disaster Recovery, and Emergency Management programs.
• Lead tabletop exercises, simulations, and response testing to validate readiness and improve effectiveness of travel security, workplace violence, and K&R protocols.
• Drive continuous improvement through after-action reviews, corrective action management, program assessments, and lessons learned from exercises and real-world events.
• Develop and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and reporting to measure duty of care program effectiveness, incident trends, and maturity.
• Leverage travel risk intelligence platforms, analytics, and automation tools to improve program monitoring, alerting, and operational response capabilities.
• Deliver duty of care training and awareness programs, including pre-travel safety briefings and workplace violence awareness training, for employees, managers, and travel arrangers.
