Job DescriptionBAE Systems is seeking a Design Checking Specialist to support our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system. Applicants should have knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards, electrical and mechanical design principles, and possess the ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally. Candidates should have expertise in 3D modeling, assemblies, drawing detailing, creating draft features, skilled in problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills for working within engineering teams.
This position is responsible for developing and maintaining design requirements using PTC Creo 11.0. Design Specialist mut be willing to learn Bentley MicroStation. Candidates will support existing staff providing artifacts for distribution and support the lead drafter reviewing the work of junior drafters/modelers. Candidates will create and update 3D models, drawings, and assemblies based on customer requirements, specify materials used on models, create models out of rough sketches, develop standardized models of products, coordinate with other teams to ensure the model is correct, and communicate effectively and professionally.
Required Skills and Education- High School with 8+ years or Bachelor's of Science with 4+ years experience designing and drafting mechanical and electrical products using Parametric Creo 11.0
- Detailed understanding of engineering drawings
- Experienced with current and former drafting standards
- Ability to work with others in support to meet contract deliverables
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with diverse work teams
- Juggle multiple projects at once
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
Preferred Skills and Education- PTC Creo certification
- Experience using Bentley MicroStation
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills to interface with government representatives and internal departments
- Experience with working in DOD environment
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
