Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Logistics & Storage Engineering (L&SE) is an engineering service and project management organization comprised of engineering and other resources that manage project work associated with pipelines, terminals, and marine facilities. L&SE is seeking a highly motivated individual to provide civil/structural design and consultation for the L&SE organization. This engineer will reside in the Project Support organization and provide engineering analysis and develop design packages for construction, oversight on 3rd party engineering designs, construction support, as well as complete as-built drawing documentation as required. This position will work directly with the project leaders throughout L&SE to develop / maintain drawings, as well as provide technical expertise. This position will be located in Findlay, Ohio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Collaborates with internal project leaders, subject matter experts, technicians, contractors, vendors, and operations personnel to obtain the information needed to complete design and engineering tasks for proposed L&SE projects.

· Determines how complex civil and structural systems should function and develop initial design concepts.

· Completes engineering calculations and analyses for proposed structural designs and evaluating/modifying existing structures, as well as civil design tasks such as HEC-RAS modeling, rip-rap sizing, horizontal directional drilling (HDD) design, containment design and calculations, and traffic control plans.

· Develops thorough and accurate design packages, documentation, and correspondence for the civil and structural portions of proposed construction projects, ensuring compliance with current engineering, drafting, company, regulatory, and industry standards.

· Maintains a Civil Professional Engineering license, utilizes the license to seal civil and structural portions of projects personally designed and analyzed, and obtains reciprocity in other states as needed; associated expenses will be covered by the company.

· Supports ongoing construction projects through design review process, standard variance requests, submittal review, and Requests for Information.

· Works closely with project leaders, subject matter experts, contractors, and operations personnel to document completed civil and structural work and maintain accurate core and as-built drawings for L&S facilities as necessary.

· Develops and maintains working knowledge of applicable company standards, code requirements, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices for civil and structural design.

· Collaborates with specialists and subject matter experts to maintain and develop civil and structural standards and standard drawings.

· Provides civil and structural technical expertise, support, and mentoring to project teams and design personnel.

· Directly support emergency response efforts to incidents and natural disasters, such as hurricanes, as a civil and structural subject matter expert.

· Independently and proactively manage multiple concurrent projects, priorities, and deliverables while meeting established deadlines.

· Identifies and leads group continuous improvement initiatives that improve design quality, consistency, efficiency, and value.

· Assesses and manages technical and project risk while working with business partners to maximize value.

· Supports MPC’s culture, L&SE Guiding Principles, strategic plan, and vision through daily decisions and actions.

This position is part of a broader progression. Other job levels may be considered subject to candidate experience and qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required; Civil Engineering strongly preferred.

- Communication Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communications to effectively communicate with all levels of individuals / employees.

- Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency is required.

- Valid Driver's License required.
- Four (4) years of experience required, at least eight (8) years is preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- A Professional Engineering License is strongly preferred.

- Experience in structural design of steel and concrete structures.

- Computer Proficiencies: Familiarity and experience with Autodesk products is preferred. Proficiency with structural analysis software is preferred.
