Corning's Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.
Scope of the role:As Division Quality Engineer, you'll operate at the intersection of continuous improvement leadership, hands-on quality system support, and data-enabled decision-making - helping CET's quality organization become more consistent, more responsive, and more preventive.
Champion Performance Excellence (PEx) Across the Division:- Serve as the division's PEx champion, promoting continuous improvement methodologies, structured problem-solving, and process excellence.
- Partner with site and functional teams to identify improvement opportunities, apply best practices, and drive projects to successful completion.
- Support proactive identification and mitigation of alpha and beta risk by strengthening process controls, measurement systems, issue prevention, and decision-making rigor.
Support Plant/Process Quality Assurance (PQA):- Provide hands-on support for divisional PQA activities, including quality system improvements, process monitoring, standardization, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
- Help align quality systems across sites, improving consistency and enabling faster, more effective issue resolution and prevention.
Enable Data-Driven Quality: - Collect, analyze, and interpret quality and operational data to surface trends, drive decisions, and inform priorities.
- Develop and improve dashboards, reports, and data tools to increase visibility and speed across the division's quality processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through data systems, digital tools, and - where appropriate - AI-enabled solutions.
Drive Cross-Functional Execution and Adoption:- Support divisional quality projects and promote consistency in quality practices and metrics across sites.
- Lead training, documentation, communication, and adoption of new quality processes, systems, and tools.
- Collaborate across plant/site quality teams, operations, engineering, and divisional leadership to embed durable improvements.
Required skills and Education:- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in quality, engineering, manufacturing, continuous improvement, or a related discipline.
- Strong aptitude for manufacturing performance analytics, reporting, and working with data systems.
- Proven ability to identify trends, solve problems, and drive process improvement initiatives.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence improvements across teams in a matrixed environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard business/reporting tools.
Desired Skills:- Experience with Performance Excellence (PEx), Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting Plant/Process Quality Assurance (PQA) or broader quality systems.
- Familiarity with core quality tools - root cause analysis, CAPA, SPC, FMEA, audits, or process control methods.
- Green Belt or Black Belt certification, or equivalent quality/process improvement training.
- Experience with BI and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to or interest in AI, automation, or advanced analytics for business or quality applications.
Work Arrangement & Travel:- Location: Corning, NY
- Travel: Approximately 10-15% to CET plants and sites in support of divisional quality priorities
- Schedule: Standard business hours, with flexibility as project and site needs require

This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $91,649.00 - $126,018.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
