Position Summary

Position Summary

The Operations Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the operations planning process to ensure optimal inventory levels and alignment with business objectives. This role will work with suppliers, business unit managers, purchasing, production planners, I/T and other appropriate resources to strategically plan and coordinate the flow of materials and information from customers through procurement to delivery. This role has matrix management responsibilities with sales, business units and production planning, shipping, receiving and inventory functions. This role involves analyzing historical sales data, supplier & operations capacity data, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and utilizing forecasting tools to develop accurate demand and supply forecasts. This position will have direct report(s) and will be accountable for establishing standard work, governance, analytics and performance across the S&OP process.

Responsibilities

General Responsibilities
  • Lead monthly S&OP reviews and ensure clear accountability for actions, owners and outcomes
  • Accountable for achieving various KPI's, including sales, customer experience (OTR), inventory and other financial performance metrics
  • Define and implement automated systems to plan and track flow of information from sales planning to customer delivery
  • Support internal and external audit requirements related to the S&OP process
  • People Leadership: Provide professional development for team members.
  • Explain and support company policies and procedures. Lead, coach and develop a team of direct reports responsible for demand planning and/or supply planning, analytics and S&OP execution.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration and data-driven decision making

Process Improvement
  • Identifying process improvement opportunities, implementing best practices/tools to enhance forecast accuracy and efficiency
  • Executive Reporting: Drive executive-level visibility to risks, constraints, trade-offs and required decisions

Cross Functional Leadership
  • Influence and align stakeholders across operations, supply chain, sales, finance, quality and program management

Operations & Supply Management
  • Lead and manage all operational/capacity planning and inventory planning strategies using quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Lead and manage ERP data to drive efficient information and material flow to key stakeholders and improve customer experience
  • Establish inventory levels and ensure alignment with demand forecasts to optimize stock availability and minimize excess inventory, including safety stock levels and reorder points
  • Develop visibility to constrained capacity across internal operations, suppliers, people, equipment and material availability
  • Matrix responsibilities for production planning, manufacturing resource planning and achieving sales performance objectives and 100% on-time customer deliveries
  • Matrix responsibilities for personnel involved with the MRP database to achieve and maintain a high degree of data accuracy, integrity, and ownership

Demand Forecasting
  • Support customer demand forecasts using quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Support analysis of historical sales data, market trends, and seasonal variations to create accurate demand projections
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, program management and customers to consolidate multiple sources of forecast inputs (EDI, portal, Logility, etc.) into a robust and accurate data set for operations planning
  • Maintain customer satisfaction while minimizing excess inventory and stockouts
  • Matrix responsibilities for providing accurate customer demand forecasts to facilitate operations planning, including equipment capacity, resource planning and supplier capacity planning

Collaborating & Communication
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams to align demand planning with production schedules, sales strategies, and marketing initiatives
  • Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders to review forecasts, manufacturing capacity, discuss potential issues, and adjust plans as necessary
  • Communicate demand, supply and operations planning metrics and performance to senior management
Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline is required; preferred in Supply Chain
  • 5+ years related experience in Demand or Supply Chain Analyst role with 5+ years of direct people leadership experience

    Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities
  • Proficiency in S&OP software (e.g., SAP, Logility or similar)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VBA and Macros) and other data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts
  • Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practices
  • Deep understanding of demand planning, capacity planning, inventory management, scheduling, supply chain execution and/or operational performance

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree or MBA
  • Experience working in a complex manufacturing, aerospace, inudstrial, or engerered-products environment
