What you’ll be doing...We’re looking for a highly analytical, data-driven engineering leader to join our Central Engineering team. We need a versatile engineering leader who possesses a rare blend of deep wireless network understanding, advanced data science, predictive analytics, machine learning expertise, financial acumen, and systems logic.
In this fast-paced, highly visible national role, you will be the engine behind our network capital efficiency and hardware standardization strategies. Working closely with cross-functional partners across Sourcing, Supply Chain, and regional Engineering teams, you will mandate and enforce minimum viable product (MVP) standard designs across our national footprint. You will not just manage processes; you will drive broad efficiency and innovation, owning the technical logic that powers our automated engineering systems ( Fuze) to systematically prevent capital leakage.
- Cell Site Design & Predictive MVP Standards: Governing and updating national network directives and standardized modular cell site designs. Leveraging advanced data science models and deep wireless network understanding to establish and maintain the definitive cost baseline for all standard configurations.
- RFP Strategy & TCO Modeling: Driving extensive technical and financial evaluation for major vendor RFPs (cabinets, backup power generators, macro antennas, routers) to ensure optimized capital allocation and precise Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
- Subject Matter Expertise & Equipment Gatekeeping: Serving as the strategic authority for physical cell site architecture, with a deep understanding of Power, Space, and Cooling rules.
- System Automation & Tool Logic: Applying your technical expertise to govern enterprise automation platforms (including Fuze and Bill of Materials generation), ensuring physical design parameters translate flawlessly into automated, rules-based ordering logic.
- Efficiency & Power Optimization: Developing and executing forward-looking network efficiency strategies, leveraging data to optimize backup power deployments, reducing physical footprints, and eliminating redundant site equipment.
- KPI Tracking & Executive Reporting: Building and managing dashboards to track national compliance and capital avoidance metrics. Distilling complex engineering data into clear, actionable presentations for senior leadership.
- Vendor Management & Operational Leadership: Leading regular vendor performance evaluations and strategic vendor review meetings. Driving cross-organizational project planning and execute expert-level troubleshooting and debugging across complex network infrastructure and software application systems.

What we’re looking for...You’re a technical expert with a track record of managing multiple medium-to-large projects and pushing them across the finish line in high-velocity environments. You take full ownership of ambiguous problems and believe that proven, quantitative data must back every critical hardware decision. Cross-functional work is ideal for you; given your collaborative nature, you excel at partnering with diverse stakeholders to build and implement our strategic roadmap with a strong, customer-centric voice.
You possess a rare hybrid skillset. You are just as comfortable debating RF design parameters and power configurations as you are developing machine learning models or building a multi-million-dollar TCO model. Leveraging your experience in Python/R scripting, predictive analytics, and process automation, you actively uncover ways to increase efficiency and map out rules-based ML logic within a production environment. Finally, you have the ability to step out of the engineering weeds to deliver clear executive storytelling, ensuring leadership can instantly spot financial trends and act with absolute accountability.
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
- Experience in Wireless Infrastructure Engineering, Sourcing, Technical Consulting, or Supply Chain at a national or large-regional scale.
- Deep understanding of wireless network architecture, physical cell site design, and telecommunications hardware.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing data science, machine learning, and predictive modeling to define hardware baselines and translate complex technical specifications into automated, rules-based logical models.
- Proven experience conducting Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis, lifecycle cost comparisons, and capital optimization modeling.
- A track record of driving cross-functional initiatives and presenting technical financial data to executive leadership.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (Math, Computer Science, Engineering, or an MBA).
- Subject matter expertise in cellular power systems, rectifiers, space/cooling requirements, and backup battery technologies.
- Direct experience developing, testing, or managing automated ERP systems, enterprise BOM generation, or the Fuze platform.
- Strong proficiency in Python/R, machine learning frameworks, and writing complex SQL queries (ideally GCP/BigQuery) to extract, model, and analyze network inventory, project milestones, and spend datasets.
- Experience building and maintaining custom analytics dashboards (Looker, Tableau, or Qlik) to track project KPIs.
If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every 'even better' qualification listed above.
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.
