Full Job Description
Therapeutic Health Services (THS) is seeking a dedicated and professional Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our specialized jail dosing team. As a vital member of our collaborative, interdisciplinary care team, this individual is responsible for the safe and efficient dispensing of methadone medication to patients. This position operates in strict compliance with all federal, state, and program accreditation requirements.

The role is embedded within secure correctional environments, operating out of the King County Jail (KCJ) in downtown Seattle and the Regional Justice Center (RJC) in Kent, providing critical, low-barrier medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and continuity of care for justice-involved individuals.

Location: King County Jail (KCJ - Seattle) & Regional Justice Center (RJC - Kent)

Position Type: Full-Time / Shift-Based Secure Facility Dosing

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM with rotating Weekends and Holidays

Compensation:
  • Registered Nurse (RN): $41.00 - $45.00 per hour
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): $38.00 - $42.00 per hour


Requirements

  • Primary Facility Assignment: Conducts daily dispensing and clinical care directly on-site at the King County Jail (KCJ) and the Regional Justice Center (RJC).
  • Medication Administration: Accurately and efficiently dispenses daily doses of methadone medication in accordance with federal, state, and facility policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.
  • Inventory Control: Maintains a secure, highly accurate, and real-time inventory of controlled medications and medical supplies within a restricted correctional environment.
  • Clinical Documentation: Performs medical assessments and completes precise documentation in the patient's electronic health record, reporting observations immediately to the Medical Services Supervisor.
  • Care Coordination: Escalates observed changes in patient medical or behavioral status to treatment staff, the Medical Services Supervisor, and the Medical Director. Coordinates closely with both internal THS programs and external jail health providers to preserve continuity of care.
  • Compliance & Accuracy: Completes intakes for new patients, explaining treatment guidelines, proper use, and potential effects of dispensed medication. Maintains daily accurate logs to eliminate discrepancies, executing corrective actions under supervisor guidance.
  • Screening & Health Services: Performs tuberculosis (TB) screenings and clinical tests on staff and patients as required by organizational and facility guidelines.
  • Operational Flexibility: Attends scheduled clinical trainings, staff meetings, and multidisciplinary treatment team reviews. Floats to other standard THS community dispensary locations as needed to support coverage.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensure: Must hold a current, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing with the Washington State Department of Health.
  • Specialized Experience: Prior experience in addiction medicine, behavioral health, or a correctional/secure facility setting is preferred but not required.
  • Background Clearance: Must be able to successfully clear and maintain necessary security and background clearances required for unrestricted entry into King County correctional facilities.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout program locations as needed.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel between organizational sites and attend meetings as required.
  • Ability to work in a behavioral health and social services environment.
