Your opportunityNew Relic is looking for a Director, Technical Program Management to join our outstanding Finance organization! Technical Program managers play a vital role at New Relic leading the planning, execution, and delivery of large cross functional programs in support of our strategic objectives. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with Technical Program Management expertise to help set the technical direction and strategy for driving engineering efficiency. This technical leader needs to have a passion for people to build and lead teams, mentor Technical Program Managers, and collaborate with multiple teams across the organization.

What you'll do
  • Equip a team of technical program managers to drive the achievement of organizational OKRs by leading complex initiatives focused on efficiency and productivity while optimizing team execution & collaboration.
  • Manage and coach technical program managers to ensure success in their roles. Strive to continually increase the team's overall technical program management bench strength. Drive accountability for high performance.
  • Act as a Principal Program Manager on especially challenging problems and projects stemming from the finance organization. Work with leaders across the company to drive key trade-off decisions. Identify gaps and risks in execution. Take decisive action in ambiguous situations within fast paced environments.
  • Serve as the conduit for the rest of the business to the home organization on projects and programs, and visa versa. Find ways for everyone to row in the same direction.
  • Build strong relationships with partnered Directors, VPs and other leaders across the company to promote successful execution against goals. Lead the team in partnering closely with cross-functional counterparts in sales, marketing, finance, customer success, and support to launch new capabilities.

This role requires
  • 10+ years years of experience or equivalent education in engineering & product delivery alongside engineers. Versed in program management methods (Kanban, Lean, SAFe, Scrum) and executed many real-world applications at scale.
  • 8+ years of experience leading technical program management and/or engineering teams.
  • Aptitude for applying structure to ambiguity and driving toward measurable outcomes and results. Comfortable with the challenging and experimental nature of work.
  • Strong communicator and executive presence. Proven ability to influence without organizational power. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical leaders alike.
  • Determined self-starter with the wisdom to know when to collaborate to achieve your goals and strong experience building trust relationships across an organization, with teammates at all levels. Highly successful at assembling and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Working technical proficiency. Deep understanding of the SDLC, engineering standards, and architectural risk management.

Bonus points if you have
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Working technical proficiency. Deep understanding of the SDLC, engineering standards, and architectural risk management.
  • Experience with Financial & CRM Systems, Saas based applications, and Jira.
  • Prior experience with high growth companies and cross functional projects.

The pay range below represents a reasonable estimate of the salary for the listed position. This role is eligible for a corporate bonus plan. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related factors such as an applicant's skills, qualifications, and experience.

$193,000-$241,000 USD
