The Director, Supply Chain leads end-to-end supply chain operations: procurement, production planning, and inventory management, while coordinating with production and plant management on warehouse operations. This role ensures efficient material flow from suppliers through production to customer delivery, balancing cost, service levels, and working capital. This is a hands-on leadership role combining strategic oversight with active, day-to-day involvement in a mid-sized manufacturing and distribution environment.
Primary ResponsibilitiesSupply Chain Leadership
- Develop and execute supply chain strategy aligned with business and operational goals
- Lead and develop a cross-functional supply chain team (procurement, planning, warehouse)
- Partner with operations, finance, and executive leadership on planning and performance
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Manage sourcing and procurement of raw materials, components, and indirect materials
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and supplier performance agreements
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships and alternative sourcing strategies
Planning & Inventory Management
- Own demand planning and production scheduling alignment
- Manage inventory levels to optimize service levels and working capital
- Improve forecasting accuracy and material availability
Warehouse & Logistics Operations
- Partner with production and plant management on warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping
- Collaborate on efficient layout, flow, and utilization of warehouse space
- Partner on transportation and outbound logistics performance
Process Improvement
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, waste reduction)
- Improve ERP utilization and data integrity across supply chain processes
- Standardize and streamline end-to-end supply chain workflows
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive supply chain experience
- 5+ years in a leadership role (Manager or Director level)
- Strong experience across procurement, planning, and warehouse operations
- Background in manufacturing or distribution environments strongly preferred
- ERP system experience preferred (NetSuite experience is advantageous)
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and analytical skills
Additional Comments- Position will be based in Jefferson City, MO
- Standard business hours for this role are 8:00am - 5:00pm
- Travel requirements are minimal. Periodic check-ins across multi-site factory/Warehouse locations.
