Full Job Description

Essential Job Duties:

  • Lead by example in modeling the safety behaviors and attitude expected by Amentum.
  • Ensure employee compliance with EHS policies and requirements through frequent visual verification. Actively engage with employees to understand and address the factors contributing to non-compliance.
  • Bridge the gap between Work-as-Imagined and Work-as-Done by actively spending time on the floor with the intentional purpose of collaborating with the team to identify and eliminate operational error traps.
  • Participate in injury management, incident investigation, cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Actively demonstrate to all direct reports that safety is a living part of operations and not a standalone action.
  • Influence supervisors and frontline employees to pause production for safety concerns without fear of retaliation or adverse impact on operational metrics.
  • Recognize employees for their work contributions regularly through informal and formal recognition.
  • Responsible for the general management of all aspects of the site operation.
  • Provide hands-on management of plant operations through direct, on-the-floor engagement and supervision of staff.
  • Drive site production targets and operational excellence while organically stewarding a commitment-based safety culture.
  • Manage daily plant operations and ensure plant and organizational objectives for customer satisfaction, productivity, Quality Management System and financial budgets are achieved.
  • Perform daily GEMBA walks with the local leadership team.
  • Drive post-incident and near-miss case reviews with a focus on organizational learning and system improvement, moving beyond "human error" as a root cause.
  • Provide significant input for functional areas including, but not limited to, Other Direct Cost (ODC) budgeting, staff budgeting, accounting, program cost schedule, and financial analysis.
  • Manage facility profit and loss (P&L), HR functions, and equipment logistics by integrating safety into every capital and operational decision.
  • Provide significant input for analyzing operating expenses including facility and equipment repairs, overtime and purchasing.
  • Prepare and analyze facility performance data on a daily basis to ensure plant financial and operational objectives are achieved.
  • Handle operational issues and escalate to Program Management Office (PMO) or customer, as needed.
  • Maintain maintenance, vendor, and facility contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with government requirements such as FAR, CFR, ASTM regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Statement of Work and contractual requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g. OSHA, EPA, DOL), company policies, procedures, standards, instructions, ethics policy and EEO/AA.
  • Approve all hiring, transfers, promotions, terminations, exempt employee performance evaluations and salary actions.
  • Communicate with staff, PMO, the customer and other sites to ensure production effectiveness.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years management experience with demonstrated understanding of safe plant operation, or 8 years equivalent experience in warehouse management, EHS in operations environment, or industrial operations.
  • Computer proficiency required

Desired Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Experience in developing, reading and analyzing financial reports, budgets and P&L statements.
  • Prior experience working in a continuous improvement environment (Lean, 6S).
  • OSHA 30-Hour certificate is preferred upon hire but will be required within 3 months.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred upon hire but will be required within 12 months.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB) and Certified Associate Project Manager (CAPM) certifications will be required within 18 months of hire.

Compensation Details:

$90,000-$120,000
