Full Job Description
Our team in Eastern Canada is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Director, Studies (Minerals & Metals), to join our team in our Toronto office.

This role is key to ensuring project success by providing strategic direction, strong leadership, and operational excellence throughout all study phases. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for aligning the right talent with the right studies while driving efficiency, financial performance, and client satisfaction.

About the role
  • Responsible for the overall performance of a team of Study Managers and studies, ensuring efficient staff utilization, profitability, and management of accounts receivable, work-in-progress, and budgets.
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor a strong team of Study Managers, and Project Engineers to drive project success.
  • Lead regular reviews and audits of study timelines, budgets, and resources, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with management, clients, team members, and key stakeholders to foster collaboration.
  • Engage with global subject matter experts to leverage innovation and add value to studies.
  • Identify and communicate study and project risks, ensuring leadership is informed and mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Review all proposals to ensure alignment with strategic goals and increase the likelihood of successful execution.
  • Support regional business development in the M&M sector by identifying new opportunities through networking, referrals, and market research.
  • Manage a portfolio of studies ranging from business case assessments right through to Feasibility Studies when required.

About you
  • University Degree in a relevant discipline such as Mining, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Chemical Engineering with at least 15 years' experience in the mining industry with extensive knowledge of the regional market.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering Studies, NI 43-101 and SK-1300 reports.
  • Significant people leadership experience. Extensive experience in the development, delivery and operation of mining or mineral processing studies and projects.
  • Previously worked on a client/owner's team or been a study manager, area manager, engineering manager or lead engineer on several projects/studies.
  • Experience managing large, complex, multidisciplinary projects, including EPC/EPCM scope, would be considered an asset.
  • P.Eng. registration and the ability to act as a Qualified Person in accordance with NI 43-101 are desirable but not mandatory
  • An established contact network within designated market (base metals and minerals) would be a major advantage.
  • Ability to move studies and initiatives forward by working through complexity and uncertainty to drive studies to completion
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complexity while balancing detail and overall strategy
  • Excellent written technical and oral communications skills
  • Demonstrated experience leading high-functioning teams
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the region and internationally when required.
