Full Job Description

The Director of BU Strategic Planning & Analysis is the senior strategic planning, insight and analytics leader for a major business unit at Armanino, responsible for driving forward‑looking planning, performance insights, and data‑driven decision‑making. This role partners closely with Business Unit leadership to guide revenue growth, staffing strategy, and profitability while aligning with firmwide FP&A on forecasting, budgeting, and firmwide financial initiatives.

This is a high‑impact role for a strategic thinker who thrives at the intersection of operations, finance, and leadership influence.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Forecasting

  • Identify risks and opportunities and deliver clear, actionable recommendations to leadership based on operational and financial analysis of the business

  • Perform detailed variance analysis, KPI tracking, and trend analysis to assess business performance and identify improvements

  • Lead monthly revenue, pipeline, and staffing forecasts with a focus on accuracy, scalability, and insight

  • Partner with central FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and periodic financial analysis

Profitability & Business Insights

  • Develop and maintain service and engagement‑level costing and profitability models

  • Analyze client and engagement profitability to support margin optimization initiatives

  • Monitor market and industry trends to inform planning assumptions and long‑term strategy

Executive Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare executive‑level reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership

  • Translate complex financial and operational data into clear strategic narratives

  • Support BU leadership in budget, forecast, and strategic planning discussions

Operational Partnership & Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with BU Operations, Resource Management, and firmwide Finance and Operations teams

  • Design and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and insight

  • Support special strategic initiatives and cross‑functional projects as needed

Leadership & Culture

  • Foster a collaborative, high‑performance environment focused on quality insights and strong client outcomes

  • Lead with curiosity, accountability, and a continuous‑improvement mindset

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, related major or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in strategic planning, finance, analytics, or operations

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in people leadership or senior project leadership experience

  • Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and KPI analysis expertise

  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders through insight and data

  • Strong executive‑level communication and presentation skills

  • Strategic and critical thinking with strong execution orientation

  • Deep understanding of professional services business models and metrics

  • Exceptional analytical, problem‑solving, and attention to detail

  • Strong project management and prioritization skills in dynamic environments

  • Ability to operate effectively amid ambiguity and transformational change

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workday, Adaptive Planning, and Business Objects

  • Professional services or consulting industry experience

  • Background supporting multi‑regional and multi‑service‑line organizations

Certain states require us to disclose the pay range and benefits summary for job openings. For Colorado residents, the compensation range for this position: $191,800 - $225,700. For Washington residents, Illinois residents, New York residents, and Southern California residents, the compensation range for this position: $211,100 - $248,300. For Northern California residents, the compensation range for this position: $220,700 - $259,600. Compensation may vary based on skills, role, and location. Eligible employees at certain levels can participate in a discretionary long-term financial incentive plan, subject to plan participation rules.
