What is the opportunity?

Join RBC as the Director, Strategic Enablement & Innovation and play a pivotal role in driving the vision and presence of Global Security (GS). As part of the Strategic Initiatives & Regulatory Delivery (SI&RD) team, you will assist in forging pathways for cross-functional collaboration for teams to deliver more effectively as One GS and One RBC.

This is a new, high-impact role suited for a senior leader with strong relationship management and influencing skills, able to drive change and enable our business and employees to elevate our security posture across the organization. The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate exceptional creative thinking alongside the ability to independently conduct research and gap analyses, then turn ideation into tangible business benefits. They must also have a human-centric mindset able to engage and work with a diversity of security and business professionals.

This role reports to the Senior Director, Strategic Content & Enablement (Global Security), and supports the Office of RBC's Chief Security Officer. The ability to read and absorb complex security concepts and translate into business language is a mandatory asset.

What will you do?

As part of the Strategic Content & Enablement team in SI&RD, this role supports the Senior Director on initiatives touching all Global Security areas, and is responsible for activities including but not limited to:
  • Innovation & Collaboration: Seek opportunities for GS to bring business value independent of specific function, with the goal of helping GS help our clients and employees prosper.
  • Ideate and embrace new ways of working with a "blue sky" approach, thinking outside-the-box to futureproof and connect with both employees of today and employees of the future.
  • Independently meet with people from a variety of diverse backgrounds and experiences to develop a comprehensive lens on challenges and opportunities for GS to be more impactful.
  • Work with enablement teams to elevate our employees to become strategic, forward thinkers who actively seek change (e.g. design thinking workshops, events, etc.).
  • Cross-Functional Partnerships: Build networks and relationships across GS and RBC to identify gaps and collaborate on solutions to strengthen our security posture and awareness, reducing rework and increasing GS's ability to deliver meaningful results.
  • Act as a thread across GS to ideate and help deliver cross-functional activities based on emerging needs, elevating delivery and execution by leveraging joint capabilities for greater impact (e.g. for new campaigns, work in conjunction with communications teams for employee messaging and site updates, strategy and research teams to create content, enablement teams to create events and target training, etc.).
  • Partner across RBC to deliver cross-functional activities (e.g. T&O, LOBs, etc.) and seek out opportunities to collaborate more effectively, elevating GS's impact across the organization and increasing our ability to keep the bank safe and sound.
  • Work with Strategic Content & Enablement teams to elevate strategy, board, executive reporting, training, and communications content.
  • Strategic Thought Leadership: Engage in and read detailed materials to thoroughly understand and act as a brand ambassador for GS Strategy, assisting in GS directives and helping teams adopt and promote our collective strategy and ambitions.
  • Conduct research on industry challenges, business needs, client values, and emerging trends (e.g. skillsets of tomorrow, emerging threats, etc.) and translate these into actionable activities that can be realized by teams across GS and beyond.
  • Seek out subject matter experts to identify and help action both opportunities and challenges to collectively safeguard and improve our business.
  • Perform in-depth analyses and develop executive-ready business proposals on how we can improve GS functions and become more future-ready.
  • Utilize and leverage AI as a tool to augment the way teams work, focusing on ways to streamline processes to deliver fast and accurate results.


What do you need to succeed?

Must have:
  • 10+ years in an advisory/change management capacity focused on improving business operations and client experience in a global organization.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders, from executives and employees to vendors and consumers.
  • Exceptional written and oral presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to read extensively and simplify complex ideas for varied audiences.
  • Forward-thinking mindset balancing business and client needs while anticipating future outcomes, working within a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder management experience in influencing and collaborating effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with meticulous attention to detail and ability to perform independent research.
  • Ability to independently balance and prioritize work within condensed timeframes, comfortably exercising risk-based decision-making to deliver quality content.
  • University degree or equivalent business experience.


Nice to have:
  • Graphic design expertise and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Understanding of cyber and physical security concepts and impact to financial institutions.
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment and impact to financial institutions.
