Full Job Description
Summary:

The Director, Software Engineering will lead our dynamic engineering teams, ensuring the technical and architectural vision aligns with our goals. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, you'll collaborate closely with Product Management and Design to craft and execute our technological roadmaps.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Technical Leadership: Shape the technical vision while promoting outstanding architectural decisions.
  • Mentorship: Foster growth within your teams, guiding engineers to reach and exceed their potential.
  • Recruitment: Collaborate with our talent team to onboard diverse, top-tier engineering talent.
  • Transformation: Oversee a robust engineering transformation program tailored for designated business areas.
  • Innovation: Identify bottlenecks, brainstorm automation opportunities, and co-design solutions to enhance engineering efficiency across the platform.
  • Collaboration: Work with multiple departments, from IT Services to QA, ensuring seamless integration and the realization of a unified engineering vision.
  • Governance: Establish and enforce IT policies related to software engineering, ensuring compliance and high standards.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does have direct reports. Oversee and nurture the Engineering transformation staff, from reporting analysts and automation engineers to DevOps experts. Responsibilities encompass the full employee lifecycle: hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and day-to-day management.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Ten (10) + years' experience in building and deploying enterprise and SaaS products, including experience as a software engineering team leader.
  • Expertise in cloud-based systems, CI/CD, diverse programming languages, and cloud platforms.
  • Strong consumer-facing product development background.
  • Proven experience in recruiting and scaling high-performance teams.
  • Data-driven decision-making capabilities.
  • Hands-on experience with engineering transformation and a suite of modern testing and CI/CD tools.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced degrees (CS, MBA), preferred.
  • Experience in the Fintech sector, preferred.
  • Start-up leadership background, preferred.
