Manager, Software Engineering

JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, Software Engineering leads a team of software engineers and manages third-party vendors responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting reliable, scalable, and secure software solutions. This role combines strong technical leadership with people management and vendor oversight, ensuring internal and external teams deliver high-quality products on time while following engineering best practices and organizational standards. The Manager partners closely with product, architecture, infrastructure, security, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver technology initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and foster a high-performance engineering culture focused on innovation, collaboration, operational excellence, and long-term platform health.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Lead, manage, and develop a team of software engineers responsible for custom applications, iOS/mobile development, reporting, Power BI, and low-code/no-code solutions.
  2. Manage software delivery across the full development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, release, support, and continuous improvement.
  3. Partner with product, business, architecture, infrastructure, security, data, and operations teams to align software solutions with business and technology priorities.
  4. Manage third-party vendors and external development partners to ensure delivered solutions meet quality, security, timeline, supportability, and contractual expectations.
  5. Establish and enforce software engineering standards, including secure coding, code reviews, documentation, testing, DevOps, release management, and operational support practices.
  6. Provide oversight for mobile, reporting, analytics, Power BI, and low-code/no-code platforms to ensure appropriate governance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
  7. Prioritize team workload across project delivery, production support, enhancements, technical debt, platform stability, and resource capacity.
  8. Ensure operational excellence by monitoring application performance, resolving incidents, reducing recurring issues, and improving support processes.
  9. Coach, mentor, and evaluate team members while building a high-performing engineering culture focused on collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Skill in leading, coaching, developing, and managing software engineering teams across multiple technologies and platforms.
  • Skill in managing third-party vendors and external development partners to ensure quality, timely, secure, and supportable software delivery.
  • Skill in translating business needs into scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable technology solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Skill in planning, prioritizing, and managing software delivery work across projects, enhancements, production support, technical debt, and platform stability.
