Full Job Description
The Role:

The Director, Security Architecture & Engineering will provide strategic and technical leadership for CPP Investments' security architecture and engineering function. Reporting to the Managing Director, Security Architecture & Engineering, you will lead the development of enterprise security architecture, cloud security strategy, and security engineering capabilities while partnering across the organization to embed security into technology delivery and operations. You will build and mentor a high-performing team, drive innovation, and help strengthen CPP Investments' overall cybersecurity posture

The Team:

Technology & Operations enables CPP Investments to deliver on its global investment mandate through secure, resilient, and innovative technology capabilities. The department partners across the organization to provide scalable platforms, modern infrastructure, and cybersecurity capabilities that protect the organization while supporting business growth.

The Security Architecture & Engineering team is responsible for establishing enterprise security architecture standards, advancing security engineering capabilities, and embedding security by design across technology platforms. The team works closely with technology and business partners to deliver secure, resilient solutions that effectively manage cyber risk.

Accountabilities
  • Provide strategic leadership, direction, and mentorship to the Security Architecture & Engineering team while helping shape and execute the organization's long-term cybersecurity strategy.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise security architecture, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Develop and execute the organization's cloud security strategy, strengthening the security, scalability, and resilience of cloud environments.
  • Evaluate emerging cybersecurity technologies, trends, and standards, driving the adoption of innovative solutions that align with the organization's risk appetite.
  • Lead security architecture reviews and risk assessments, providing expert guidance and actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Partner with technology, operations, and business teams to embed security-by-design principles throughout the technology lifecycle and effectively communicate security strategies and risks to diverse audiences.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of security platforms, automation capabilities, and engineering solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and strengthen the organization's security posture.


What You Bring
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline.
  • CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or an equivalent industry certification.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in security architecture, security engineering, or a related cybersecurity discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of people leadership experience leading security architecture or security engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in enterprise security architecture, cloud security, security engineering, risk assessment, and security technologies within complex organizations; experience in Canadian financial services is considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence technical and business audiences.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, with a commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving cybersecurity trends.
